UTM training ammunition company had a range set up at Smoky Mountain Knife Works during Rep Weekend (deep discounts from manufacturers represented there).

Run through Sig's AR and 9mm pistol, the ammunition fed well, provided recoil feedback, albeit reduced, and was very accurate at 20 yards. It was more reliable than the Simunition I was used to 20 years ago, but I have no recent experience with Simunition to credibly criticise it. OTOH, my buddy with me did have that experience and he was very pleased with UTM's system.

Yeah, I've heard lots of people like UTM better. I only have experience with Simunition products. At the cost per round, it doesn't make sense to me to use either for marksmanship training. For FoF training, the amount of rounds fired is low enough that function shouldn't be an issue. Sims guns need to be kept clean and lubed. Worse case, bore snake the barrel and a couple drops of oil between scenarios.
