Single six drill and tap scope mount

I’ve always wanted a scoped Single Six and I finally happened across one of those “I need money” deals where I don’t have any sentimental blocks to doing a bubba.

I would like to have this pistol drilled and tapped for a scope mounting that preferably puts the optic over the bbl and leaves the hammer free. There used to be a B square mount but they are discontinued unobtanium. The other no gunsmithing mounts look pretty janky and dubiously secure.

do you guys have recommendations for a base or mounting system. I’ve staged a scope just to illustrate how I’d like to have it mounted.

The 1988 model 6-3/8 single six with only a LR cylinder. Too bad the hunter models are as scarce as the b square mount.

I actually bought a 6" Blackhawk version of the mount hoping I could make it work possibly with a little machine work but the profile is too wrong

Crazy idea

Have you looked at the clamp on mounts that clamp on barrel or magazine tube and hold a flashlight or lazer?

A good idea, but I don't think that'll work for the simple reason that the ejector rod housing is in the way.

I'd go with the B-square mount if you can find one; that's the "best-worst" option, outside of having a custom mount made. I tried one on my SS, and it was ok. I just didn't like trying to carry a scoped pistol around, so sold the whole outfit and found the Bicentennial that I carry now.

I certainly like the way a scope mounted on the barrel looks, but I dislike the extra muzzle weight on a Single Six. It can be like me trying to hold a 6 foot long 2x4 by only the last few inches at the end.

Seems like a scoped Single Six is a shooting sticks gun for me.

I see Weigand has improved their top strap scope mount. I sure wish I had that one rather than the one I currently have.

This looks like the best way that I have seen so far. And it precludes drilling a hole in a SS, always a plus for me.
