Alright I have two problems I need help with.

1. I bought a Monte Carlo stock for my Norinco SKS and I cannot get the pin/rivet out of the upper wooden handguard so I can put on the synthetic one. Any advice on how to get it off?

2> I bought a 10rd double stack magazine for my D-Technik SA vz.58 Sporter and the magazine will lock into place but the magazine release won't fully go back to its normal position. The mag seems to be solid in the receiver however. Any thing I should be concerned with?

Thanks

Is the paint too thick on the VZ mag? I got some recently where this is the case.

On the SKS handguard drill the pin then tap it out with a punch. Its a royal pain in the ass. Mine wasnt budging and i had broken 3 titanium bits on it. So i removed as much of the head of the pin as possible then dremeled it off the gas tube to fit my vented handguard.

It remains in two pieces but doesnt effect the cycling of the rifle.

Fast forward a bit and you can see how mine is in two parts. Good luck.

I vaguely recall someone mentioning a while back that the mag catch spring on their VZ was very weak when they got it, and required pulling it back after tilting in a mag to get it in the "return" postion. It locked a mag in, but not assertively. You may just need a new spring for that part (or like said earlier, paint/gunk is blocking the movement)

That pin on the SKS is peened after installation to keep it in place. Usual solution is to drill out the peened end and tap it out. A pain in the rear even for a decent gunsmith.

Ok, so I need to drill out the pin on the SKS. The VZ 58 is a double stack; I have some 30rd magazines I don't have problems with but I also have some 30's that have the same problem as the 10rd. I looked at the magazines and gun again and I think it might be this protrusion on the back of the magazine is too thick and is not going into a recess which allows the magazine release to go back into its normal position.
