SKS convert zipper clips to magazine?

Don't mess with your gun, man!

Don't mess with our gun, man. It's fine just the way it is. The detachable mag will jiggle and your gun won't shoot as straight. The detachable mag also prevents you from putting your left palm underneath the center of gravity when firing your gun from a standing position. If you hold a gun in a standing position with the left hand forward of the center of gravity because the detachable magazine is in the way, you'll get tired really soon. This causes your hands to shake and accuracy to suffer. With practice, you can shoot 1 to 2 inch groups at 100 yards prone with sellier and bellot ammo (NOT with the cheap Wolf stuff). You can get 5 to 8 inch groups while shooting from a standing position. I have a Norinco. Trust me, your gun is fine just the way it is.

I still want to find out about the mags in the Romanian and the Norinco... but I bought me a 20 pack of stripper clips and the cleaning rod! Going to shoot this weekend!

No, these take the duckbill mags. I took my Romanian to compare notes as soon as I bought it. Not converted, still have chicon wood on them.

those removeable duckbill mags are not original equipment.

A tactical problem with using 30 round detachable magazines is shooting from prone position and perhaps shooting from various "cover". The mag gets in the way and can expose your head to enemy fire.

The "duckbill" magazines take a little wiggling around to get in. I feel they are not a good thing on an SKS at all. It is a very reliable gun and then an unreliable part is put on it. I never put the duckbill magazine in my gun but I sure did feel sorry for my friend who bought a couple despite proper warning and struggled to make his gun function as good as it used to.

Now for the bad news. A Romanian SKS is not a true SKS
Huh? Because it was not made to be tooled with until it works with an aftermarket part, that was never really in the picture when it was designed. If nothing else, you will find the SKS a little handier sans the 20 or 30 rounder sticking out of stock...

Now for the bad news. A Romanian SKS is not a true SKS. It was modified by the Romanians and they made it almost impossible to convert it to detachables. The 40% figure I mentioned before is also the same percentage of people who own Chinese SKS's. They are very easy to convert and they work fine. The Romanian you have almost certainly will not work with detachables. Russians can be converted with some gunsmithing work. Romanians can't.

i believe your thinking of Albanian SKS's. Romanian ones are pretty close to Russians i believe.
