Thought bubba ment lopping up a gun with "historical" significance, and over accessorizing was tacticool/Mall Ninja etc?

Besides if someone likes their set up who cares?

That could be I guess, if there’s such a thing as being technical about it.

And I agree completely. So before ya go all sanctimonious with the Virtue Signaling & such, let me just say it’s all in good fun. Like I said in my first post, I’m all for making a rifle more comfortable & enjoyable. But just as I refuse to lie to a man acting like woman or vice versa, thus promoting their Gender Identity Disorder... Likewise, I’m not going to lie to someone about gimmick parts which I know do not add to performance.

-I always figured that 'Bubba'ing a firearm was the process of modifying a firearm in irreversible ways without improving it in any way.
The modifications to this particular $150.00 firearm are technically reversible but not financially feasible.
Anyway, I kinda like it the way it is... .

Performance can mean different things to different folks. Personally I think a lot of stuff people hang off guns is stupid, but sometimes they have different reasons than I do that actually make sense for them.

You are of course welcome to your opinions...and since you obviously enjoy trying to push people's button I'm sure we'll here about them :p:D

I don’t push buttons. I gives my opinion! I can’t help it certain people get “Triggered” over what I say.

Ya know, I’ve been personally attacked & ridiculed several times here! (something I’ve NEVER done.) Because I don’t get triggered. If you can control your feelings, oh flippin’ well! Not my problem! People need to learn it’s ok if we disagree. Really.

It's your rifle, don't worry about what others think. The only historical significance the SKS has is that it was so crappy that even the Russians dumped it after only two years. Having said that, I really like a modified SKS.

My aftermarket receiver cover with inexpensive red dot is easy to use and sufficiently accurate for my purposes. It did require a bit of file work at the front, but has a secure fit and doesn't interfere with loading. For every one of those mounted, there was an OEM cover likely thrown in a drawer or tossed.

If the SKS design had incorporated a notch in the ring ahead of the receiver cover nose, it would have been much more solidly mounted. That would not have been consistent with Soviet production goals, however (perfect is the enemy of good enough). Optic use is complicated by the stripper clip loading and vertical ejection, and accuracy of the service round was also "good enough".
