I must admit that I thought I knew something about sights and rifles but??

I have been shooting my Norinco SKs and it seems I do not know much about elevation adjustments?

With the rear sight all they way down (bottomed out) at 100 yards I am right on target. If set at 100 meters/yards it will shoot approximately 8 to 10 inches high. The weird part is at 325 yards with rear sight still bottomed out and not set on 300 m/y it will still hit a 12" steel target if I do my part? If the sight is placed on 300 it shoots high. If placed on 100 with sight picture adjustment it will place rounds on target. I am thinking just leave the sights bottomed out and make a 2 or 3 molecule sight picture adjustment?

I am pleased with this rifles accuracy ( much better than I anticipated ) but am honestly wondering where my thinking with sight adjustment on this thing is wrong?

AR we adjust the front iron sight for elevation but the SKS with blade type sights seems it should be adjusted with the range marks on the rear sight?

Sorry for the dumb question but enlighten me please. Thanks:confused:

Any chance you are confusing the 300 meter battle zero and the 100 meter setting?

My norinco sks has a rearmost setting for use as a battle zero. One notch forward is the 100 meter setting.

I believe all SKS's are like that - bottom setting is a 300m battle sight, 100m is one up from that.

Are you shooting bayo in or out? On my Rommy the bayo was pressing pretty hard against the stock when folded and shifting POI all over the place. Ultimately, I "free floated" the bayo and it shoots the same in or out now.

Also, who knows who the last guy to mess with the front sight was, that could be all off. AK/SKS front sight tools are pretty cheap to come by.

89yj thanks obviously I have something confused!! Anyone know where info on the SKS (sighting in?) sights can be found? Yes I have done a Google search and the SKS forum but nothing I have seen. Thanks.
