Sks Vs Mini 30

while the Yugo slam fired

Hey now, someone forgot to clean out the cosmo ;)

Isn't Norinco owned by the state/party? What does the Party think is an appropriate number of rounds for an honest man? (I don't know but would guess zero.)

My guess would be, as many as the Americans can afford :p Norinco is banned from import anyway, any money you spend on Norinco stuff is going to whoever you buy it from. Not the company.

Also, I don't know how hard it is to disassemble a Ruger to clean/repair, but I pretty much everything except the stock taken apart on the SKS in under a minuet. For under $50, I could have two replacements for everything except the barrell/reciever.

I see your point about Ruger, BUT-

They've held this position for 10+ years...I doubt they're going to 'come around' anytime soon. And if they do, it will only be because their market research told them to.

I respect your opinion, but I'll still pass....

The SKS has it all over the Ruger in terms of cost, reliability, and toughness. If you want detachable magazines as well, go for the Saiga in 7.62x39 - under $200 street price, 10-round magazines, and can be converted to take hi-caps.

Actually, it wasn't mine, but it only slam fired with new commercial ammo (2 times in 15 minutes with either Hornady or Remington, I forget now). No problems with any comblock-type stuff it was fed that day.

The SKS has a free-floating firing pin. The inirtia from the bolt slamming into battery is enough for the pin to discharge commercial ammo because the primers are softer than the commie stuff.

There's a guy over at Survivor's SKS Boards that's trying to fix this problem by adding a spring to the firing pin here.

Looks like the SKS is the handsdown winner.
And for good reason it has been used in just about every major war after WWII. Its a small rifle with a big history. :D
And you can get them with your C&R FFL ;)
