Is there such a thing as a compact or subcompact hammer-fired DA/SA single stack .45 ACP pistol? I'm not interested in carrying a cocked-and-locked SA or a half-cocked striker fire action. External hammer preferred, but not absolutely required.

Either current production or previously made if abundant enough to find one eventually.

Sig P220 Compact or the pretty much identical P245.
I know of a local shop that has a P245 for a reasonable price. PM me and Ill send you the details if interested.
I still see S&W CS45 3rd-gens pretty regularly at gunshows.

Currently still made is pretty much the HK45c or USP compact. I don’t think they still offer a PX4 .45 in compact.

I very much like the HK45c, easily the best shooting small .45 I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a few (officer 1911, Sig 245, Glock 30 and 30s, M&P compact, 320 compact, Shield .45, and I think one or two more. Edit: Sig 250 compact).

Bersa used to have one that was pretty sweet

Stoeger cougar was considered a compact but was kinda fat

Springfield XD-E. Very low capacity, but exactly what you're looking for.

A little on the heavy side, but the S&W 4516 is a really stout TDA compact. They will take 45 super. The hammer is bobbed, though, so if you're wanting one with a spur, you have to swap it out or go with something else.

I had a CS45, nice gun, but they're blockier than the 45xx series. I sold that but still have my 4516-1, 4566 and 4506. The 4566 is my favorite of them as a range toy, the Commander length barrel makes it a better balanced suppressor host

AMT DAO .45 is probably the smallest. The DAO is not striker fired... it has an external hammer, although it's flush with the slide.

Yeah, those might be one of the worst out there, especially considering the lack of real estate on the grip frame. The Kevin/Micro Desert Eagle is the only one I can think of that I found more awkward.

None are quite as heavy as a Nagant 1895, though...

True that. I carried an AMT .380 DAO for a while...

Another vote for the 4516 (or 457). My 457 has a great ccw. It's slim with a superb trigger and very very reliable.

That's because they were using the mainspring to delay the opening of the slide

    Ruger P345. Bersa Thunder .45.

That Bersa I sold off. Magazines were expensive, and I had some parts breakage. This isn't the current model.

Pics of a Bersa, next to a Detonics .45.

    Another vote for the HK45c.

I have two P30SK pistols, one with the V1 trigger (DA/SA) and the other with the LEM trigger. I like them both, especially the triggers.

This thread got me looking at the HK45 which is available DA/SA or with the LEM trigger. I like it, it might be worth upgrading from 9x19 to 45 ACP.

I always thought the Ruger P345 was a pretty good gun, with a couple of things it would have been better without, but while it is a relatively slim single stack gun, it is a full size duty gun.

Here is the P345 vs the HK USP45C

Trying to remember, it's been a while.

Firing pin. Tip broke off. Hammer had a problem, I sent it in (on my dime). A couple other things.

Kahr makes some small 45's which may be worth a look.
