I'm considering a Smartcarry for deep concealment and I've got one question. I'd like to get one sized for up to a 3" S&W K Frame. If I do this, will the holster still work, at least reasonably well for a puny J Frame S&W 642? Or will the 642 have too much room, allowing it to flop around or fall out?

I'd appreciate any insight that can be offered.

I wholeheartedly recommend that you call Charlie and talk to him. He and his wife are the owners/operators/entire staff of SmartCarry, and he is just a prince of a guy. He would be more than happy to talk to you.

I absolutely LOVE my SmartCarry. I can wear a shirt, tie, and suit pants all day with my M&P Compact in 357SIG just behind my belt, and a 10-round spare mag next door. Beats the living pants off my .38 snubbie in an ankle rig for all the reasons I can think of.

In order to provide a really quick draw, I actually sewed my SmartCarry shut a little bit above the bottom of the two pockets; this allows me to get a really good grip on the gun before the draw starts, but it still covers the trigger guard enough to be very safe.

That said, I carry my .380 NAA Guardian or Taurus 85 in it very occasionally, and they work fine. Honestly, I'd probably just buy two and customize them for each gun since they are so good and so cheap.

My SIGs and Springfield 1911s are getting seriously jealous since I hardly carry them anymore

Good luck.

I have a full size M&P and the smart carry but also can carry my 380. The instructions recommend using a safety pin to pinch off the loose area. Also can add some cloth or paper to the bottom to raise it.
