Interesting enough uteridge i went with the glock d/t its long track record for reliability even thou i think the M&P has better ergos by a long shot.NOT SAYING the M&p's are not reliable...just i like glocks record for longevity up to this point.

Between Sigs, Glocks, HKs, XD's, and the M&P's they will all go bang every time you pull the trigger even if they have been through a lot of abuse...heck my berretta in Iraq could do that and that is a gun whose praises I don't sing. In a gun fight the long pole in the tent will almost always be you; your level of training, your confidence in your firearm, your resolve, and your ability to get on target quickly. If a gun points perfectly for you every single time that is the gun to go with; in a caliber that you are confident in.

Recently got a slightly used M&P 40c. Have only shot 100 (actually 106 with 6 being Remington GS 165 grain JHP's) rounds so far. Functioned perfectly, feels great in the hand and is accurate. Being such a small gun, it did kick noticeably more than my Glock 22, but that is expected...it was nothing over the top in that regard. Bottom line: so far I like it and it appears to be a keeper.

I've had the full size and compact M&P in .40. Sold the full size because I just didn't need it, but it was a fantastic pistol. If I was in law enforcement, and could carry any full size pistol I wanted to, that would be it.

I have the compact on my hip as I type, and, unless dress and occasion dictate the need for a smaller gun, it's my daily carry.

I also have a Glock 29 10mm that I love, and wish S&W would add a couple 10s to their M&P line-up.

I sold my Glock after I got the M&P 40. Then I bought the M&P 9 and both of these S&W pistols are shooters and for my hands they just fit, feel and point better than the Glock.

But, the Glocks have earned thier reputation over the course of time.
The M&P is somewhat new to the game, but I do indeed like them.

I love my Smith & Wesson M&P 9. The ergonomics are terrific and the firearm is extremely reliable. The only problem I experienced had been with the front tritium sight. This was actually Trijicon’s problem and not really Smith & Wesson’s. Two thumbs up for the M&P.
