Is there anybody that will take an order and get me on the list? I'm not paying GB's $800 price tag. Thanks!

I would think any FFL worth his salt could place an order for you, and get it as it becomes available. How long you might have to wait is another matter.

$800? Wow. I thought the guy a couple of months ago asking $599 for his (he had two) was high. This was at a local gun show but an out-of-area dealer.

2 stores yesterday said they weren't accepting any more orders for a bit. Not 1, but 2 stores in the Nashville area. Perhaps they are misinformed. Sounds like Smith is covered up overloaded.

I think allocated means the next batch is already spoken for at Davidsons doesn't it.

If you feel the need to contribute to the panic and buy one right now, then you'll probably be paying the price.

Looked at second-hand one in excellent condition for $419. It was worth the asking price.
I passed on it because I have five shot 9mm revolver.

I'm glad you're not willing to pay $800 for one. Only stupid person would pay that price.

After all the people quite being crazy I think you will be able to buy a new Shield for $400. There will be a lot of guns for sale when the crazy people start needing money. I will help them out. :D Don

I bought a 40 shield last spring and it has become my primary ccw. I haven't seen any in the stores, new or used, since. My Dad got on a waiting list in MA and it took a few months to get one last summer. The MA trigger is awful.

Shields must be pretty hard to get elsewhere. One of my local stores had one in .40 for a couple of days before selling, another had one in 9mm and it also took 2 days. The price on both was under $400.00 each. These are nice guns, just not worth a huge premium.

Under $400 is a great price. I'm surprised they even last a day at any price under retail.

I've got a buddy who reps Smith. He claims Smith has the capacity to produce 30-40 Shields a day. They have 40,000 on order.

Last fall my LGS had a S&W day and they had 200 shields for sale that day for $399/ea.

I don't believe that number for a second. They probably build 300-400 a day.
