I came across these videos today. They are set up to explain the origins and evolution of smokeless gunpowder. And the process of discoveries through nearly 200 years.

I was actually searching for smokeless gunpowder production. @ballman6711 had asked about how large a batch of powder is.

I wonder just how "large" a batch is?

Though these videos haven't shown any production or process, they do give some good insights to powder characteristics and some demonstrations.

Can anyone point to a link or literature that explains more on the modern process of making smokeless powder. This would be for an exercise of want to understand, not want to do. From what little I know, it takes good length of time for the process. I know in dynamite, the process of combining and mixing, to filling the casing, only took maybe a couple hours for one batch. About 1/2 of a ton.

Speaking of the FBI. One summer I worked at the Atlas Powder plant in the punch houses. That's were the powder it tamped into the wax shells. We had to make up a batch of faux sticks of dynamite, using what looked like pulped wood. We had our suspicions for it's use.
