I don't eat any of the hogs, every now and then during a cold weather stretch maybe a small sow but never anything over 80 pounds or so. I take the back strap and or hams, pretty good eating. I usually let them lay and create coyote bait or drag them off with my pickup to ravines etc. wish I knew how to post a pic, I'd show you a pic of a boar I killed about #400.

Congratulations. Good looking rifle. I'm looking forward to a range report! I think id be pretty exited myself to have a beauty like that in a creedmoor.

Thanks for the hog details TexasPatriot.308

I am excited Wreck-n-Crew. Waiting for ammo to arrive and for some time off of work to make a range trip. Seems like every time I buy a new gun, my work goes nuts and I can't find a day to go shooting. A range with any decent distance is about 90 minutes for me.

Nice looking rifle , it looks like Ruger put a lot of thought in that rifle .

Mine's a Gen 1 in .243 that I got for $980 out the door. Added a Vortex Razor HD (on sale for $1280) in ARC M10 1.45 rings, Magpul grip and Atlas Bipod:

Really have been impressed with the RPR and the .243 cartridge so far. Handloads are running at 3100 FPS and the 105 Bergers really due well in wind at this MV. Best loads are hitting at .38" for 5 at 100 off the bipod and holding under 1 MOA out to 800. I've only had the chance to shoot it at 800Yds which is as far out as my backyard range goes. Every load I tested using the OCW method was under 1 MOA. Do have to use Magpul AICS magazines to get the .243 with the 105s seated out to .0020 jump, the regular .308 Mags don't have the room to seat out that far. Was planning on swapping out the forearm and stock, but am now tied up in an AR build, so the RPR mods are going to have to wait.

For a "budget" precision rifle it holds it's own.

Those Razors are really nice, seems like I see fewer Nightforce and more of them at every shoot.

wish I knew how to post a pic,

Why not use the resources supplied by thehighroad? Choose "more options" and press the "Upload a File" button underneath. When the upload completes, press the "View Image" button in the popup dialog and cut and paste the link to your thread reply by using the "mountain" icon just to the right of the smiley icon/button.

Buying the Burris, I am definitely in the minority. I am on three other RPR boards and FB groups and I would say 80-90% of RPR owners are running a Vortex scope. Amazingly popular scopes.

I was originally going to get a Leupold MK4 but the more I looked at all of them and compared them, the better the Vortex looked. Even compared to Nightforce.

Of course, I'm also very fond of Burris and probably own more of their scopes than any other brand. ;)

My other precision scopes are Leupold MK4's, but since drinking the Vortex Kool-Aid I won't look back.....serious features for the cash.

WoW! Nice rifle and super pics Capybara. You other guys have nice ones too. I feel so disenfranchised and inadequate.;) Not really. Great thread guys.

This thread has really caught my attention, I'm thinking that this gun in 6.5 creedmore will be my next rifle. I've been thinking of this cal. for a long time but in a hunting rifle. Our hunt club is 13500 acres but the longest range that we have is only 300 yards , but I could shoot 1000 yards with a little work.

As someone who owns three Accuracy International rifles and considers them to be the benchmark for hardcore tactical/military rifles, I have to say that the Ruger LRP appears to be an amazing product for the money. The only functional downside as far as I can see is that the bolt can't be lock closed (true/false?) and the bolt looks to be a bit sloppy/rough inside the action compared to more expensive options. I watched the tech videos on Ruger's website and the trigger group is interesting. Is it possible to install any AR trigger or is it proprietary? I would like to see how that bolt sleeve works in dirty, dusty conditions, and I'm interested to hear if you can still run the bolt while pushing up on the bottom of an AICS magazine. Overall a great job by Ruger, and based on one review I watched on Sniper's Hide, an additional $1,000 into the rifle gets you some worthwhile upgrades resulting in a really good rifle. This was a game changer for sure.

I can't see pics. I just get the following message:

"UNAUTHORIZED MATERIAL. GUN PORN IS STILL PORN"

Sounds like some kind of "web filter" is enabled on your connection, you surfing from work?

I don't know about the AR trigger group but out of the box, the trigger on mine is fantastic. I've yet to put the scale on it but it must be less than 2lbs. Don't know about the mags, only have the P-mags, two 10's and a 20rd.

Trying to get to the range tomorrow for its maiden voyage.

I've only shot my Gen 1 with P-mags, but M-14 mags fit and lock in, metal DMPS pattern AR-10 mags also fit and lock in, both fed dummy rounds fine. I don't know what an AICS mag is.

gun pr0n, indeed. Excellent photography, Capy.

As I develop field proficiency to 300 yds with my Ruger Scout, I may become more interested in the RPR and mid-range precision shooting... and regarding your scopes; as we who use low-powered, extended eye-relief telescopes like to joke, "Those are great all-around scopes you guys have. Do you use them for astronomy when it gets too dark to shoot?"

Hee.
