I'm considering spending the money on a 91/30 mosin nagant sniper with the original scope and mount. How accurate are these? Is the scope any good? Thank you in advance for your help.

I haven't purchased my first Mosin yet, but I've done a fair bit of research into them. I've got a few on my "list".
From what I've found, the accuracy depends on the condition of the rifle. Some have been shot "to death" and some are in "close" to new condition. You need to personally inspect any Mosin you're planning on buying, look for worn parts, bad rifling, etc, try to find one that looks like it was only shot a few times (good luck!!) There have been 91/30's known to shoot Sub-MOA, but they are extremely rare, you should expect 2-3MOA even from a "good" rifle. OTOH, even beaten Mosins are great guns, even if they only shoot Minute of Barn

A lot depends on condition! The sniper rifles such as the PU were standard production rifles that shot better in testing than the other rifles off of the same assembly line. They set them aside to have the scope mounted. If it is really an original not one of the numerous fakes / reproductions out there you'll be paying 1K plus. The ones going for $399 are not originals but reproduction most of them are built on regular issue rifles not even ex snipers.

I have an 1932 hex reciever that I mounted a 3x9 barska pistol scope on via a scout mount. With hungarian light ball it will shoot 3" groups all day. With privi/wolf ammo the groups shrink down to the 2.5" range. IMOHO thats not bad for a 75 year old sub $150 rifle/scope combo. For $400 I cant imagine that the groups from a PU sniper would be much different!

First thing is be sure you are getting a real sniper. Lots of fakes out there and the sellers aren't going to be to forth coming about it. There are several websites with information on how to tell a fake from a real sniper rifle.

I can pull 1" to 1 1/2" at 100 yards depending on how well I do my part with mine. I could probably get her a little better if I worked at my loads more. Mine is a repro I put together for about $500. I am very happy with how it turned out.
She did well enough to make a nice head shot on this little piggy at 100 yards.

It's very difficult to tell an original Mosin-Nagant pattern sniper rifle from a refurb sniper rebuild or a modern reproduction. Maybe impossible, other than obvious modern builds.
That said, if all you want is an accurate scoped miitary rifle that looks like a Mosin sniper, go for it. I've come close several times myself to getting one; the PU scope looks great. Keep in mind, that was a late war scope. Enemy at the Gates got it wrong.

as with any other good shooting rifle. Fine bore, good crown,
well bedded action, good ammunition. Mosin actions are very
stiff and provide good support. The triggers are invariably
heavy and lots of creep. I changed the one in mine to a
Huber Concepts trigger. Worth every cent. I only have a pic
of this 50 yard test target, but this rifle shoots very well.
Neat guns and lots of fun to shoot.

Refining a mosin trigger is as simple as bending the catch spring, maybe lightening the firing pin spring and a little polishing.
I hear the concepts triggers are exceptional though. By comparison.
