Gun show started this morning so I grabbed the Colt Mustang PocketLite as a possible trade, stopped at the bank and took some money out of savings and headed out.
Walked all the isles and only a couple of dealers were selling Kahrs but most others had a life time supply of Taurus,Kel-Tecs,and Bersa's.
Went back to the dealer that had a very ample supply of Kahrs along with the Kel-Tecs,and Sigs.
I truely wanted to compare size, weight, and over all feel of the PM-9,CW-9, and Kel-Tec PF-9.
Luckily all three were practically next to each other.
I truely liked the feel of the CW-9.
And with a price of $375 it was tempting.
The PF-9 felt good and was pretty light as well.
The price on it was $265.
I considered that damn cheap for a lightweight carry pistol.
I then handled the PM-9.
Although it did not feel as good in my hand as the CW-9 the over all build and size and weight was truely very appealing.
I then stacked the PM-9 right on top of the CW-9 and the size difference was very revealing with the PM-9 being a good bit shorter length and height.
I could also tell, although very slightly the PM-9 was a hair lighter.
I then went back to the Kel-Tec...That price was screaming at me.
If anything if I bought it and decided I did like as a concealed carry piece I could always use it for general plinking and houshould protection.
But after handling it and the two Kahrs I decided to buy the PM-9.
The dealer had the regular two tone with standard sights for $605 and the model with the night sights for $655.
I decided to take the plunge and bought the night sight model.
Since they were not taking trades I was able to sell a guy in the isle the Mustang for $565.
Checking on GunBroker last night and Buds I think I did pretty good as I had no shipping and ffl fees added and at least I could see straight up what I was buying.
Although if I had bought off GunBroker I probably could have saved maybe $35-$45.
I then found a guy selling 9mm ammo and bought one box each of Remington UMC 115 gr.,WWB 115 gr.,and a box of Magtech 115 gr. to try out on the pistol after I give it a very good cleaning.
Although due to some issues it might actually be close to a week before I can shoot the gun.
One thing that I was curious about is the sales lady warned me not to get cleaning solvent on the night sights as this would ruin them.
Is that true??
Any way I will head over to the holster forum soon enough and start asking others what holster they like for their PM-9's.
Fortunately Kahrs website shows pictures of the different brands and styles of holsters that fit the particular model of Kahr you own.
Here's hoping the Kahr works out as a concealed carry pistol for me.

Sounds like it worked out better for you selling your Colt to a customer. The gun shop wouldn't have given you that much.
I've never had night sights ruined by solvents, but then I don't soak them either. Treat them as you would any sight.
Read the manual.
Enjoy your new pistol.

Good choice, mine has been reliable since day one and it's one of the early ones. This gun is pleasant enough to practice with without beating the stuffing out of your hands. It's a well made nice gun, you will glad your got it.

Mine needed close to 500 rounds to break in. Shoots very well now and is consistent. You may get stove pipes and failure to load/eject. Just keep shooting it and all those problems will go away. Won't hurt to Flitz the feed ramp.

Great guns once they are broken in. Make sure you shoot the required 200-300 rounds before you rely on the gun for self defense. Mine required ~300 rounds before it began to perform flawlessly.

I have had my PM9 for about five years now and I love it. Shoot it a lot to get it properly broken in but I have never had any kind of FTF or FTE with mine. I shoot both 115 gr HP and 147gr HP as well as assundry 115 FMJs. I also have a K-9 and like it just as much. If I am careful I can get 3-4" groups, standing two hand hold, at 25 yrds with either one in both timed and rapid fire strings. I have a DeSantis OWB thumb break for the K-9 and a Don Hume IWB for both the K-9 and the PM9. Most of the time I simply carry the PM9 in the front pocket of my Wranglers.

I have never heard of ruining nite sights with solvent and have never had any trouble with any of the several nite sights I have. You did very well on your purchase. Kahrs are hard to find around here and usually command premium prices. Keep shootin'

heeler:
A good choice in the PM9.
I suggest you watch the take down videos at the Kahr website as the slide stop spring is unusual and can be tricky the 1st time.
And resist any thoughts of snugging that slide stop spring screw:eek:.
It threads into the frame and is easily stripped.

My experience with Kahrs is they run better a little on the wet side of normal lube.
Be patient and it will become your favorite.

Your going to be very happy with your choice.

I owned a PF9 and a PM9 and the PF9 is long gone.

Cleaning solvent can disolve the glue that holds the site inserts.

Kahr PM9, P9, CW9 - all good.

Kahr is on the approved 'buy' list, as far as I'm concerned, and I'm picky.

Good choice. Be safe.

This story would have had a much happier ending if you decided to keep the Colt too.

Always use the slide release when chambering a round (no sling shot).
Says so in the manual.

Good luck and good choice with the night sights.

I still need to find a nice OWB for mine, usually carry it in the pocket.

DAdams, truely I was torn about it.
As much as I liked the PocketLite I needed to make up some money I was out on the Kahr which I did in pretty fair fashion.
I carried my Mustang for about two weeks as my concealed carry in a borrowed IWB holster that was made for a Mustang and found one day that some how in the cocked and locked position the safety became disengaged which understandably scared the crap out of me and I never carried it again.
So the time came for it to be a commodity for something hopefully even better.
I saw no less than four different Mustangs and Mustang Pocketlites being sold by dealers starting at $800 to as high as an unfired pistol going for $1200.
Frankly I dont think they will get that kind of money for them in this economy.

After owning a lot of 9mms, the PM9 is the only 9mm I own currently. And I don't see that changing any time soon.

IMHO, the PM9 is the perfect combination of size/capacity, reliability, accuracy...

The EMP is a distant second. And I'm a 1911 guy.

Kahr has great customer service also.
On the phone and talking to a real person in less than 2 minutes.
Emails answered in 15 minutes as long as they are during business hours.

I bought the best Kahr ever made, The MK9 which is a stainless steel framed PM9.
Mine needed a tiny bit of fine tuning, But i never would have imagined such a small 9mm would be so comfy putting hundreds of rounds down range all in one session.

Quality is second to none, You never would have gotten that with the PF9.
Keltec is great for the money, But you wont regret spending the extra dough getting the Kahr.
