Luckily she doesn't like pink guns, thankfully. She thinks pink guns are stupid.

I went and googled C&R firearms and got classicarms and just started scrolling through the pages for grins while she watched some show of hers on MTV that annoys me. As I was scrolling down she saw an AK variant and went "oh I want one of those they're pretty." My head jerked to the right and asked her if she was serious. She grinned, as I scrolled down at another point I saw the Swiss 7.5mm revolvers and she went "I need one of those." So we got off talking about ballistics and what and she told me "oh I just like a gun that's pretty, you handle the stopping power."

So for grins I scrolled down with her watching, she doesn't like AR-15s but she likes FALs and CETMEs and she got excited when I told I had both and pulled my CETME out(the FALs are in the back safe of my walk in closet with hundreds of pounds of books and such piled in front of it). Then she saw my Saiga .223 16" and got excited. A little odd but okay I'm happy.

So brought up AIM and she didn't like the CZ-82s, Glocks, Ruger LCPs, etc. complained they were too boxy. So I brought up gunbroker and brought up the Sig 232 and she only like the all stainless or all black ones. She thought they were pretty. I brought up the S&W 40 blued and she got really excited, then I brought up the 642. She didn't like the Taurus 85.

Surprisingly she did not like the look of the Colt Pythons on gunbroker but she loved the Colt Trooper MK III 6" with a black grip, but those with brown grips she didn't like. I showed her the Ruger SP101 3"(mine was in the back safe again) and she really liked that one.

So I just thought it was hilarious bit of gun looking. She's not my ex-fiancee and her almost disturbing love of the Ruger P90(owned one before we got together, got another one to stash for the day we got married as a gift, so I've got two in the safe while my P345 rides primary). And she may only like a gun because it's pretty, but I can at least get her to like revolvers that are pretty looking, and pretty good at stopping BGs, and I'd have an excuse to get a Colt Trooper .357 magnum (though she'd be shooting .38 special only out of it probably).

So anyone else got stories of wives, girlfriends, or sisters getting guns because they were 'pretty.'

if she likes the swiss revolvers the russian nagant revolvers are like 90 bucks but ammo is expensive

"oh I just like a gun that's pretty, you handle the stopping power."

uhhh... what's not to love about THIS ??? :D
hang onto that one friend, you only get just so many chances !
(and if she later decides she like pink, hey, buy her pink, guns, roses or both, as frequently as possible !)
I also hear that pink diamonds are the "in thing" these days, just in case you were wondering

"So anyone else got stories of wives, girlfriends, or sisters getting guns because they were 'pretty.' "
no, but I lost a really big bet to milady on a Cowboys vs. Steelers Superbowl once, because she thought the Steelers had prettier uniforms
but she also thinks her Ruger 3" SP101 and our his-n-hers S&W 66s are real pretty
(and she just loves that "good gun sound" that a Marlin 18" 30-30 carbine makes when levered.. and she is spooky accurate with it, too)
pert near perfect is what I call it.. 37 years now, and working on forever
(even if she do prefer 357 in her SP101 vs. 38s, just because it feels good)

I married the one like that. She has since killed a bigger buck than me, and bought me two stainless Smith and Wessons. Marry her now I tell you!

I used to think it was cool when my wife liked guns. And then she started claiming mine. Now I have to ask to shoot my ak. And she has to approve any accesories for her mini-14.(that I always wanted) now it just ain't no fun to buy a new gun.

Alright I am joking I do still love buying new guns just to watch her smile.

Mine is a Cyborg.

Screw form, she wants functional and "pretty" never came up.

I tried to put a Wood and Stainless Walther PPK 380 in the pile of guns she was testing for grip, and she told me if it was smaller than 9mm not to bother. (she picked a Sigma for CCW)

She does like the CZ-75 though on looks alone, and the Calico pistols. (Helical feeds are attractive? )

Oh yes, Marry that girl and get matching safes if she's a Shopper

Edit : NOTHING says "I love you" like arming your Significant other and turning your back.

Simple solution - buy matched pairs. His n Hers. That's how I came to own two identical Ruger GP 100s.

Its a bit discerning when they "walk a can up a hill" smiling and giggling all the time and then look at you and smile.

I'm getting married this fall to a woman who likes firearms. I love her. She came from a hunting family and has been around guns most of her life. She doesn't freak out around guns like some women. We got our CCW permits together. She carries a Ruger LCR. She's thinking about a .380 this year.

After 22 years of living in sin, we're finally getting married.

Oh, and by the way, my future wife isn't into pink grips either.

Cute story.
Wish I could say the same for my significant other.

Why doesn't Glock hold 95% of the pistol market share? Guys like pretty guns, too.

*my so wants a pink sub-compact

Because I reload, mine murmers something about "bullet man" and wonders off, if I've been at the computer or in the garage too long... Grrrr. (part of that's my own fault for over-doing it)

Consider yourselves lucky!

Mine has no problem with guns, shes always liked shooting air rifles so I took her to shoot shotgun for the first time the other day. I had high hopes that she would enjoy it and it would become something we could do together.

We went to the sporting clays ground, I showed her how my remi 1100 works, how to load it safely etc. I got her to press the button for me and I killed my clays, then I passed her the gun. She loaded it with just one shell to make it easier for her first shot.

I launched the clay... BANG.. "I dont like it". Then she handed me the gun and that was the end of my dream of having a girlfriend that shoots :(

The annoying thing is, I have always supported and took an interest in her hobby (pole dancing). Ive been to all her competitions etc to support her. I've even let her try to teach me a few moves just for fun. I would have thought she would try a little harder than one shot to see if she could enjoy mine :(

Mine dosent realy care what the gun looks like, she likes cute ammo. 17s .223s and 6x47 (anything else with a colored tip under 30 cal seems to work also LOL). She shoots my .243 or her Mach2 more then any of the other guns LOL.

love is a .45

I once took an ex to an indoor range and she freaked out, slamed my new Kimber on the benchrest  and left. I pretty much knew her and I were not compatible after that. She didn't like the idea that anybody in there could shoot her if they wanted. Stupid I know. I tried to talk some sense into her but it just wasn't her thing. The guy at the counter felt so sorry for me he wouldn't let me pay for the range time!

I've got a great girl back home now. ;) I love her dearly. She understands my passion for firearms and has never had anything discouraging to say. Even when I feel like I am going a bit overboard with purchases she is just happy that I am happy. It is great to have a supportive partner.

My fiancee is extremely supportive of me. When we got together she knew I shot and was into guns, but I don't think she understood how much I really enjoyed it. She willingly asked to come to the range one day when my dad, grandpa, uncle, and cousin were going to shoot some clays. She fired a few rounds and loved it (despite not hitting a single clay). She still comes to the range with me every-so-often. She enjoys shooting my Glock 9mm and loves to shoot my .22. She boasts that she can 'load them all by herself'. I enjoy it quite a bit. It sure does make future purchases a little easier to make

My wife has bought me virtually every gun I own. I just got her a beretta shotgun and she can't get enough of shooting clay targets with it. I guess I've made some bad decisions in my life, but I made a great one 24 years ago.

Here's the one my wife thinks is pretty. She makes a point to find one at every gun show we go to and hold it. Then she lets me know it's on her list.

My wife and I are approaching our 30th anniversary. Our very first date was to an indoor range where she blew the guts out of several targets and had a good time doing it. First time she had ever touched any firearm. I knew I had struck gold.

The upside: Over the years she is responsible for us owning a model 29, a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt, a Redhawk in 357 mag, a K-22 and a K-38 and many others. My Christmas present last year was a Lyman Great Plains 50 caliber flintlock. :D

The downside: I seldom get a chance to shoot our Ruger MkII target model and the CZ 75b. They aren't pink but they are definitely hers! She does allow me to clean them and reload 9mm for the CZ.

Thanks guys, I showed her your posts and she fell on the bed giggling. The "marry her fool" posts didn't help too much but 'eh' what can you do about it.

Glad to hear the good stories, and it's sobering to hear the unfortunate stories.

My wife likes nickel plated revolvers with pearl or ivory grips. She has interest in other guns, but those clearly peak her interest far more than anything else.

So I guess she qualifies as liking "pretty" guns. I've been waiting for the right nickle detective special or M36 to come along and stash for her next birthday or Christmas.

Yeah, that seems like a hobby that would be real hard to take an interest in there, buddy. It's a rough life, but I'm guessing you'll get by somehow...
