So pretty...

I have some 150yr old hickory from a fallen barn on some property I used to own in Tennessee. It’s about 3ft of roughly 3”x5” beam that broke when the barn collapsed. I saved it because it’s in very good condition once you get past the 1/4” of dried out and aged edge. I want to eventually make grips from it, but I have yet to muster up the courage to slice into it. It’s been planed top and bottom so I know I have good material to work with, and it is beautiful grain even though it’s hickory. Was a total suprise at how pretty it is with a simple wipe of oil on it. If I had skills like what @Gumby0961 does I would have grips on everything I own. Nice work sir.

Those are all really beautiful! I need to try my hand at some nice grips. Where do you get your scales from?
I met a guy who builds custom double rifles from old double barrel shot guns. Actually I saw his post on Facebook, he just happens to live in the same town (pop 5000) I moved to. Naturally I had to go see his shop, I walk in and noticed all the beautiful stocks, I had to ask if he had any waste left over. He opened up a small cabinet and said "help yourself". I took a few random pieces right off the top.
