I had stopped by the local pawn shop a week or two ago and noted several Savage 111´s in .30-06 and decided to get one.

But when I left there, I didn´t have a Savage, I had this instead:

Remington 700 ADL in .30-06 (blind mag well, but wood stock, iron sights & factory drilled & tapped) for $225. 1982 production if I read the barrel codes correctly.

Finish on the wood is a bit scruffy - itś seen a few hunts - but that´s ok to me. I don´t have to worry about keeping it pretty

Time to get some dies and work up a load :D

Looks good. The price is certainly righteous. :)

I've always done well with Sierra bullets. 3031 for 110-grain; 4064 for 150s and 180s. Also did well with 180s and H414. Book max; sub-MOA.

Heck of a deal, I think. My best reloads are 55.5 of 4350 with Sierra 150 BTSP. What glass are you going to get?

Good deal but get the trigger checked. I bought a similar one at Gander and I only found out that the trigger was bad when getting ready to rebuild the gun. In my case I didn't have a problem because I was replacing it as part of my rebuild.

I had one manf in 83. I sold it because of the slam fire issues with the 700 series. You got a nice gun at a very nice price. Just be careful.

I have a Weaver K4 I´m going to use for now. Up here in northern WI that´s more than enough glass for the shots I´ll have.

According to what I´ve found online, the trigger issue only applies to those with the bolt lock mechanism. Mine allows the bolt to open while on safe so should be the new ¨better¨ trigger.

Oh my.... That's a good deal for sure.

Mine likes H4350 and 150 gr. bullets but I get the feeling it will shoot most anything well.

Thanks all. Just waiting on the scope mounts & .30-06 dies to arrive so I can go out to the range on my day off. :) Now to go search the reloading sub-forum for IMR-3031 recipies...
