So what are you shooting just for the fun of it?

As others have said, pretty much all of them for fun, even if it is work. :)

Lately though, more for fun than anything else, a couple of M1 Carbines, and a British Enfield and S&W Victory, both in 38/200.

Realistically, all of them.

But I understand the premise.

For me it is revolvers and old long guns.
SAAs, model 10s, M1 garand, M1 carbine, Winchester 94 all come to mind.

And who doesn't love 22s!?
Pops got me a Winchester 9422 when i was a youngster and it is absolutely my favorite 22 to this day.

Well said.

When I go shooting, I spend some time standing in front of the safe trying decide what to take, whether I want to chase brass--or not, whether long guns or hand guns, whether big bore or small bore, whether antique or modern, whether paper targets, clay targets, or targets of opportunity and the list goes on. Some decisions are pleasurable.:)

This weekend I'm shooting in a tier 1 (5) stage Steel Challenge match. The outdoor competition season is basically over here for the winter, so just a few here and there. I'm shooting Open Revolver in the hope that I can make some headway towards my next move up in classification.

But there is room for a fun gun so I'm going to shoot Open 22 with my Victory Open pistol. This is going to be the first time shooting Open Rimfire Pistol in SCSA so I will be classified after the match. I have the chance of shooting a total of 5 Steel Challenge matches before January 1 and any that I shoot in will have a fun gun for me, this week open rimfire pistol, next time open rimfire rifle then production pistol and possibly CO.

I have an M1 Garand that I bought from CMP. I have had this gun for 4.5 years and yet to clean the cosmoline off it or shoot.

Wait thomas15, what you describe sounds way to much like work, I'm talkin a walk in the woods taking a shot at a menacing rock or two, maybe a trip down the trail taking pot shots at some tin can's or other targets of opportunity. Well that's fun for me. :D

My Uberti 1860 Henry 44WCF makes me smile the most. The sweet sound of the lever working the action is awesome.

I like shooting my LCRx 3" .22WMR. It's a fun gun to shoot. Then my SP101 DAO which is my absolute favorite fun to shoot.

For fun, I go to the range with a 4 inch barreled S&W model 15. This is the old Combat Masterpiece model in .38 Special. It is easy to shoot with HOGUE rubber grips, accurate and just plain fun if I stick to wadcutters or the 130 ball (full metal jacket) Air Force loads.

For the most fun it's always easy to go with one of my .22s; usually my Beretta Model 70S or my Ruger Mk.II Model 512. But I really should spend more time with my SIG Trailside. The accuracy potential is definitely there (CCI SV ammo seems to shoot the best), especially with a very light and clean trigger pull. Tried it with a red dot for awhile but eventually I went back to the iron sights.

Since 9MM target ammo is so cheap today, I've been shooting my Marlin Camp9 Carbine a lot lately
(and 9mm pistol.)

They're all fun, but my .22s have been taken out to play a LOT lately. Mainly the 22/45 Lite and Ruger American Rimfire, but I'm hoping to take my 10/22 out soon.

For just fun, can't go wrong with 22lr. I have my marlin m60, an old savage and a drop in kit for my AR. While it is very inexpensive to shoot, it's also very enjoyable to be able to shoot 500 rnds in a day and man do they go quick :D Went shooting today, a bit of pistol shooting, some 223 and a brick of 22lr.

no matter what, a 22 handgun always comes out, either a 5.5” ruger single six or sr22. the single six is actually a single eight in 22wmr (replacement cylinder from midway). it is far more accurate than i deserve. while plinking is great fun with the semiauto sr22 and a bunch of loaded mags, there is something about lining up offhand shots and cocking the hammer of a single action revolver shooting oomphier 22wmr that calms the soul.
