The shop owner I do gunsmithing for has ordered several times to no avail.
I keep hearing these guns are available and have even seen pictures and write ups but we have received nothing yet on actual guns.

We can get all the 1911 pistols we want in any flavor but M&P .45s are eluding us.

I was pumped about these pistols when I first heard about them. I have two other M&P's and absolutely love them.

Then they were delayed.

We've gotten some in Alabama, but they look terrible. The finish on them isn't good at all. Most of the extractors look horrible. I've handled three different pistols and they all looked the same. While this isn't an "end-of-the-world" issue, I still like a NIB gun to look NIB.

I'm going to pass on this pistol for awhile.

There is some good info over on MP-pistol.com about the 45.

Oh...and I wanted the dark earth version, which apparently will not be out for awhile.

Just looked at one in Central, VA today. Very nice, same price as XD's. More comfortable grip and points better than XD for me. Nice trigger. Only bad thing - it's 10+1, XD is 13+1 and a bit smaller.

Still like the Taurus 24/7 better than XD or M&P - also about $100 less.

Saw them in two shops in CT. One had the thumb safety on it. Very comfortable. I like having that thumb rest.

The same was true with the XD40 right after I bought mine. All this talk about the same gun being allocated for the war in Iraq. I don't know, I can't say I've seen too many troops with XD's out there but thats what all the gun shops were telling their patrons. Who knows whats true and what isn't. Could be they're allocated to a PD department somewhere, could be S&W is having a supply issue for some reason. Anybody's guess.

Hows the weather in ND? I'm gonna be there for 6 weeks in July and August visiting my grandparents and other relatives.

I don't know if they have them in AZ. They probably do.

Several here in Memphis. I bought one, and it had problems. Smith fixed it and now there is at least 1 used one in the shops here in Memphis. It was neat, but I like my 21sf more.

Gander Mountain in Fredericksburg, VA, has a version with manual thumb safeties on them. I like the feel of the gun but I don't care for the thumb safety.

Anybody want to let loose of the Distrubutors that may have wholesaled these guns????

Montana! Geez, the old man is going to have to go with some new distributors or maybe go dealer direct!

Onmilo,

If you're interested in getting one (and not concerned with overstepping your dealer), you can always order one from Buds Gun Shop. They have them in stock. $499 with no night sights, $599 with.
