Found a few of these 30-06 cases at the range Sunday. Looks to be a rather extreme head space problem with the rifle. A couple of the regulars said the guy knows the rifle is messed up but continues to shoot it. I don't want to be near that fool when he is on the range. IMG_1153.JPG
 
That just seems a little off for stretch. Too perfect? Too much stretch for how thick the brass is at that point?

That being said, I don't have a alternate reason for finding fired brass that way.
 
Good detective work Jim, it is brass plated steel. Just got back from my reloading bench but couldn't get the primer out, the deprimer rod keeps slipping. Must be staked.
 
Also some AK barrels have a "stepped" chamber to mark the cases after firing. I can't state the reason for sure, some have speculated its a form of Russian gun control -- macro stamping? :)
