I remember back years ago, I used to get up in the recliner with my Grandfather and we would look and read his field and stream and outdoor life magazines. Then he would get out his different books and shooter's bible and he would tell me about the different calibers and about bullet weights and velocities. ;) I guess he is the main reason I'm enjoying the shooting sport so much. I'm 53 and just got into reloading the 1st part of this year! I absolutely love it. I sure wished I'd started it sooner. But I've made up for it already. I reload for all my rifles and also my new revolvers( Blackhawk 45 colt, 38 S&W spec. and my rossi snubby also 38 spec +p). Another thing, when I depart this earth, my kids ( grown-up) will have all kinds of things of mine to use since I've always been an outdoors person. Things are not going to get any cheaper so I have put together a nice little nest of guns and accessories for their use. My son, Derek is finally getting interested in maybe trying reloading.;) I have twin girls also, and they love to shoot. Emily, loves my 223 and she shoots pretty darn good. She even likes to shoot my 45-70 when we go to the range. I can attribute all of this to Papa Henson. I remember when I was in high school, he would come by and say that my mom had sent him over to pick me up to go to a dr.'s appt. When in reality, we would head to the woods to deer hunt. Of course, mom would get PO'ed when she found out, but not too much. Sorry, just thought I'd share this with you!;)

That is a great life you have built for yourself Tommy (with a little help from Papa Henson).
Both of my grandfathers were dead by the time I was around, and one grandmother was dying, another lived on the other side of the US.
My father neither hunted, owned, nor shot anything (I guess he handled a firearm in the Army, but that was it--he was stationed at West Point during Korea). I got into shooting all on my own, but I love it.
As my wife and I have no children, I am hoping that my wife's brother will allow me to take their daughter out shooting when she is old enough (she was born last month).
I am 51, and got back into re-loading last year, so I know how you feel.
Thanks for sharing.

my 8-yr old son enjoys talking with me about shooting, calibers, and general gun stuff. I'm planning to buy him a CZ Scout for xmas, so that when we go to the range, he'll have his "own" rifle.

Hopefully, when he's older, he'll remember our "shooting times" together...
