Curious to know who here has the latest source for best pricing/quality on lead round balls. Specifically, I'm looking for .380...I have plenty of .375 for now. Anyhow, rather than take the usual and more expensive path of Hornady, et al. I wanted to see if you've got a private source. Ebay didn't have what I was looking for and past threads on small shops with their defunct web links aren't helpful anymore.

Even if your data is for other sizes lets start get some good info....so, who has the best pricing/quality.

And, no...I don't need to hear about casting them myself.

I know you don't like Track, but they have the widest variety of round balls in popular and scarce diameter ball sizes. Have ordered with them since the '70's. They have cast round balls in .380. Price is $10.99 per 100 plus shipping.

You're not going to find .380 balls lower than $11/100.

It's not that I don't like them but I'm looking for deals and trying to send more money to the hard working startup. Track of the Wolf has been the recipient of a lot of my $$$ in the past. Always great service and product.

I can appreciate wanting to support someone else who's trying to get their business started, but if Track provides that good of a service and product, why change that? Reward them with your business and when they stop providing good business, then use that as the excuse to go elsewhere.

Personally, there's an FFL 45 mins away who I think is great and I may start using them to do transfers for factory new guns as the FFL 5 mins away charges double what they do for a new gun transfer and scorns me for getting a transfer even when I get something used that's been out of production for decades that they're never going to have in their used gun case next to the $200 used Hi Point that's been sitting there for 2 years.

So far, for quantity = 500 of the .380 round ball I've got:

Log Cabin Shop: $50.75 + $9.95 shipping = $60.70 which is $12.14

Whyte Leather Works: $40 + $7 shipping = $47 which is $9.40/100

Ballistic Products sells a jar of 0000 buckshot (.380 diameter, 8 lbs, 667 pellets) for $38. It’s not pure lead , need to load off the gun to avoid damaging the rammer. I’ve used it with that precaution. Link shows jar with 00 label, but 0000 is in their catalog.

That's a great idea....too bad no one makes this by the bucket using a softer lead alloy or pure lead. Knowing me, I'd have a jar of it sitting around for a few years and forget about its hardness then try to load with the revolver rammer. :cuss:

But, but, but..., you could find somebody who does make them and simply have them run off the ball for you? Return the mold to you with the finished ball? :D

LD

Well, I wouldn't be making them then, would I? ;) Besides, here's the perfect thread for volunteers to jump in with their pricing.

I went ahead and ordered 500 of the .380 round ball from Whyte Leather Works. I've ordered product from him before (45 Colt bullets) and have been very satisfied. It's hard to beat a delivered price of $9.40 per 100 count. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

Order fulfilled...

I've ordered BigLube bullets from Mark Whyte before and the product is always great, professionally packaged, and shipped within a very reasonable time frame. He always responds to email quickly too.

p.s. I noted above a source called GAD Custom Cartridges for inexpensive .380 round ball. I have never used GAD before so I don't have an opinion of their service and product but I've since read quite a few complaints about GAD on the interwebs.
