South Dakota - The Governor has signed HB 1296 that added section 34-48A-5.1 to the state statutes and it went into effect immediately. This provision expanded Firearms protections further than any other state has to my knowledge. You should read it as it will make your day! The protection of 2A rights is excellent. However, please note that this is the legislated state of emergency declaration only for the current crisis, effective for 15 months, and includes the following:
Section 3. This Act is repealed on July 1, 2021.

South Dakota is a mixed bag but not when it comes to guns- certainly one of the better places to live as a gun owner.

I kinda dislike clause 7 which says that limitations cannot be put on ammunition purchases. Hoarders can gobble it all up and it be gone, or profiteers can snag it all and try to charge crazy prices. Otherwise I like it. Too bad it has an expiration date.
