I got a Speedfeed I stock for my Remington 870. It seems really cheap.

The recoil pad is the culprit. It kind of bows out, I can see light underneath it from the other side when I hold it up. I think it's because of the springs pushing on it. Also, it is way off center, which makes it look like ****.

Do I have to deal with this, or is there a solution?

Pictures would perhaps help , but I wonder wether your system isn't somehow damaged ? I just handled a Mossberg 590 today with this stock on it ,and I seen no such problems.

A couple idea's might be to change the butt pad to something with a more solid base on it, or to perhaps re-inforce your butt pad by cutting a 1/8 inch thick alluminum plate and fitting it between the stock and the butt pad ?

You can also check with the maker of the stock and ask wether yours is normal or wether it should be replaced.

Have you tried loosening the screws to "center" the pad better, then re tightening?

Some Remington's are coming with the shell holder speedfeed stock and have the R3 limsaver pads on them which would be an improvement over the stock speedfeed pad but I have not been able to find a part number for that pad....

Sorry it took so long to upload the pics.

What do you guys think?

Oh, I sent Speedfeed an e-mail last week, haven't heard a thing. What should I expect from their customer service?

I sent Speedfeed an email a week ago, still no response. I'm going to try calling today.

Not very impressed with their customer service right now....

+1, you have to center the pad on the SF stocks that have the shell holders. As far as bowing, the springs are retained by the buttpad so when you have shells in the stock you will see where the springs are pushing against the buttpad.

I tried centering it, the hole is drilled very precisesly and I can't really move the pad much. It's just that far off, that I can't even get it to center.

Maybe take the pad off and dremmel out a little of the plastic where the bolt goes through the pad will allow you to center it a little better.....doesn't look to bad from here though ........ maybe you should just load it up and go shooting! :)

Seriously though if you don't like it rather then trying to find another speedfeed pad try and get the R3 that remington has put on some of there guns that come equiped with the speedfeed shellholder stock.

I spoke with Speedfeed, after several failed attempts at contacting them. Got a good CSR and my buttpad is on the way. I'm glad I didn't give up.

Had the same problem with my 590 that came with a speedfeed from the factory. The quality on the speedfeed stocks feels cheap, to me. Cheap plastic and plastic flash. Not to mention how hard the shells were to get out. Also seemed to kick twice as hard as a factory synthetic stock.
