Got a chance to buy a slightly used springfield GI (w box & everything that came in it.)for $400.00. I'm thinking it's good deal?

Mil-spec or GI? If it is a Mil-spec that is a pretty good price. For a GI I would say it is a fair deal. At least around here. Gun prices vary a bit in different regions of the country.

Second to what jmr40 said, if it's a mil spec that is a good deal to me, if it's the GI it's not so great a deal. I have the Mil-Spec and I love it, mine is SS and I paid quite a bit more for mine then $400.00 it's been totally reliable and feeds and ejects anything, has a great trigger. I highly recommend the SA Mil Spec.
    YMMV

    Cocked & Locked,
That is one cool 38, really is super ;-)
Did that come from SA polished like that or did you do that? Looks really good.

For a short period of time (not certain how long) SA made and marketed some Mil Spec Super .38's with nickel plating and faux pearl grips. This is one of them.

It usually wears these stags nowadays. Thanks for the compliment.

Since it's already used, see if you can shoot it first. My SA GI didn't want to feed much of anything, even after a couple rounds forced through it via 2 different mags.

Also you can probably buy a new Rock Island Armory for about the same price as that used SA.

I'd take it if 1) you didn't and 2) I had the money. A Springer at $400 is a decent deal, either way, IMO.
