Springfield XD- Made in Croatia?

One more thing to say...then they can lock the thread as far as I'm concerned.

You know the XD is a solid pistol (accurate, reliable, durable)...you can tell that simply by the uproar it has caused since its introduction as the XD.

The Glock fanboys went crazy (in a negative fashion)...that told me it was a good pistol, even before I laid a hand on one.

Even the M1A?!!? I doubt it. or maybe lately but not those sold 20 years ago..

Springfield XD- Made in Croatia?

I dont understand, I thought Springfield arms were U.S.A. made
From what I understand, Springfield doesn't really make anything in the USA and they are only an import company! I was also told that the company has nothing to do with the original Springfield Arms out of Massachusetts either.

I am not too fond of striker fired pistols where the striker is held under full tension all the time like the XD's are. With Glock and Kahr the striker spring is only drawn into full tension when the trigger is first staged and pulled.

I didnt know is that the M1a they sell is made in brazil

They aren't. The receivers are cast in Canada and machined in the US as are the op rods and barrels (Wilson). Remaining parts are spec ed from all over including the US. In the past, many were military surplus but that ended years ago when the supply dried up.

at that time they were $250, but now that springfield armory imports them and stamps their name on them, they cost over twice as much....
It seems to me that most guns (and AMMO, too) cost close to twice as much they did just a few years ago, with the exception of GLOCKs. I went to a gun show the other day, and I was surprised at how much things have changed since my last gun show, a couple years back.

A few of us recall when Browning imported the SigSauer P220 and couldn't give them away. Now look what they go for.

And Armalites AR-24 is simply a Sarsilmaz with a few cosmetic changes.

Even weirder, Ruger makes frames for a bunch of famous gun companies.

I've been to Karlovac, stopped there for awhile on my way from Ljubljana to Split. It's really pretty country, and the people are amazing. I'd visit that part of the world for a whole month every year if I could afford it.

One thing that most US Citizens don't understand about the former Yugoslav republics is that they weren't part of the commie block. They were part of the neutral movement, and even almost went to war with the Soviets at one point because of their insistence to remain neutral. We (the US) even traded with them during the cold war, as they had a form of market socialism rather than state socialism (the Yugo anyone?). In addition to that, they (at least Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia) have a very long history of excellent craftsmanship. These are all reasons why firearms like the Yugo AK, SKS, and XDM ended up being so highly regarded.

Anyway, kind of a tanget, but thought people might find that interesting that didn't know otherwise.

Sort of like GM

GM; made in America, a real American brand, right?

Chevy Camaro, red blooded muscle car, right?

Made in CANADA.

Truth in advertising; until you decode the VIN.

I don't care what the Springfield fans say, I've always been of the opinion that Springfield is a "poser". It always bothered me that they stamp the historic Springfield crossed cannon cartouche on their guns, as if they are the real thing. Now they have every right to do so, but I just can't bring myself to purchase an imposter. All of that said I have no problem with guns made outside of the U.S. In fact Glock is my favorite. But I do know a poser when I see one. Funny how some just can't admit that, like em or not.
