I own 3 XDs and 1 XDM. I feel good in that I'm helping a less advantaged nation progress by getting a small portion of my money sent there. Doesn't bother me.
I'm a cold war and desert war vet. 20yr military retiree. Current LEO detective). VFW and NRA life member. Don't tell me my patriotism is faultering.Where was you U.S. flag made?
Where are your electronic devices made? What is the human rights record of China? How about the tires on your vehicle? Was your truck assembled in Mexico or Canada? Come on. It's a world-wide economy.

Anyhow Guys,

I started this thread. Was just proud and excited about my new pistol.

Went to the range today, 300 rounds, onr ftf, shooting cheap Wallie white box. All in all very pleased.

Guess I added another off beat, 3rd world gun to my collection.

Thanks all for yor comments.

congrats on the new xd. I have 30,000 rounds through mine since 2005 and it is still going strong. Mine has had a bunch of upgrades. The xd trigger can be quite nice when upgraded. Mine is set at 3.25lbs and moves less than 1/4" total. It is awesome for competitions.

I have used pistolgear.com for many of my XD needs/wants.
Have fun

ditto, ditto, ditto again to PO2Hammer, KenW, and Soldiernurse. like the three i dittoed before, i am in total agreement.

and please, jackpinesavages, i respect your first amendment rights, too. say what you believe, but speak of real facts, because 6 others have poked some holes in your comments. this is the last i post re: this little political aside. by the way, go up a ways to Sam Cade's signature. i haven't posted my own, but i like it. Hats off to you again, Sam.

i will repeat, i can't wait to get my hands on the new XD-S, for slim (when it comes out later in 40sw). i was really tending to the fine Sig P238, cuz it shoots straight and is very very concealable, and what quality in manufacture. my xd 40 is fine for winter carry in WI, but once in a blue moon it gets hot here in summer. i'm just hoping the butt of the grip doesn't stick out too far IWB with the Slim. the Sig will involve new muscle memory, and in the heat of God forbid battle, i don't want to have to 'remember' that my cocked and locked Sig must be clicked off of safety in that SAO trigger configuration. i need to protect my parts, even if i am 65!

goodnite to all, i'm spending way too much time on thehighroad.org and xdtalk.com.

There is one great website to help find your direction.

Yeah, aint it great to find the parking lot of your local National Guard Armory full of Hyundai and Kias?

Yes, my tires and electronics are made in the USA, vehicles are Union built in the USA, and our bio-diesel is made here too. There is all kinds of stray logic and reasoning to buy foreign products, or even to allow illegal aliens to stay here, but if it's morally wrong/illegal why do it?

It is a quality of life standard which is the real "trickle-down economics", wherein spending money here improves life here for all legal citizens. However, that's MY opinion of how WE LIVE and WHY. No, not every firearm we own is Made in USA, but if it is not, it is at least made in another leading nation which supports BASIC human rights. Croatia is not one of them and the XD is not being adopted by LE/MIL, as has been incorrectly stated.

My apologies to the OP: your only question on this pistol line was if you can find them cheaper than $390.

Be specific. What exactly are you talking about?

2010 Human Rights Report: Croatia
From the US state department:

Section 1 Respect for the Integrity of the Person, Including Freedom From:

a. Arbitrary or Unlawful Deprivation of Life

There were no reports the government or its agents committed arbitrary or unlawful killings. There were no killings of police officers in the line of duty.

b. Disappearance

There were no reports of politically motivated disappearances.
Sounds like it is total anarchy there.:scrutiny:

I rather like my lightly warmed over XD. While not the One True Sword, it is a viceless pistol.

If purchasing an XD pistol also entails supporting a nation that gained their independence and threw off the Yoke of Communism by the force of arms,a nation that is our ally in the clash of civilizations, I am perfectly happy with that.

Croatia is not one of them and the XD is not being adopted by LE/MIL, as has been incorrectly stated.

Once again, it's the fact that it has a single action trigger which to LE admins, looks bad.

It was the only gun I was interested in when I set aside my 1911 duty gun because it is single action.

Don't group all LEOs into that bunch. Administrators perhaps...

Sorry, I should have clarified that better. I do mean administrators that pick the weapons. I'm looking to get into LE eventually and I love single action pistols.

I had an XD9 but had to make a sacrifice sale...but recently bought an XD40. Is is utterly reliable and points to aim naturally. I trust it so much, it is my sidearm when i venture the woods and hunt. It is my favorite semi auto handgun.

That is one of the biggest loads of BS I have ever heard on this forum. I will guarantee you, 90% + of every electronic item you own was made overseas. With 80% of them being made in china, a country that really has a poor track record of basic human rights and treatment of it's citizens. It's hard to believe how ignorant you are.

Okiegunner, you shot 300 rounds of the winchester white box and had a ftf? Did the primer look like it was struck good? Did it seem like it was a bad round or the gun not striking the primer hard enough? I have an XD45, and have ran all sorts of cheap and expensive ammo through it. NEVER had a failure to fire, failure to feed, or failure to eject. Matter of fact, I always clean my gun after a trip to the range, but at the range even after putting several hundred rounds through it and getting it good and dirty, it has been nothing but flawless. And that cheap Winchester ammo has always been fairly accurate as well. Heres a pic of the last two targets I shot on my last trip to the range. After several hundred rounds, winchester white box.

target on left is 25 feet, on right is 75 feet

Curtis-Mathis was the last TV made in the US unless I'm mistaken. When's the last time you saw one of them? Back when the TV repairman made house calls to change vacuum tubes. We cannot compete with those children laboring away in dingy basements in Cambodia for 18 hours a day asssembling things.

for the topic, I really, really, like each of my four XD-platform pistols (one is an "M").

ftf

Moose, can't really say. round just did not go quite into battery, Took a light pull on the slide and the rounf fed fine. My fault, pistol's fault, bullet's fault??

Do not know. Everything else fed flawless. Just wanted to give an accurate report.

No, your ignorance of the electronics world is limited by the latest Chamber of Commerce press release about you having no choice in the "global economy". Right here in the Midwest we have some of the finest electronics components producers in the world, putting their circuitry into everything. Do not throw insults at people as result of your laziness to research matters of great importance. We all know how bad the greater Indo-China area is for human rights, that's how I came to research where we send our consumer dollars.

Here is what I could find on LE/MIL use other than Croatia's: Iraqi police forces.

Even the Wikipedia references for HS2000/SA XD "LE/MIL" use are void of references for WHICH agencies are using them, but actually contain notations for NEEDING those references. It's a Corporate lie, imagine that. I don't put much emphasis on firearms needing to be used by LE/MIL to pique my interest in them, but when a Corp. is lying about their credentials it's a certain NO GO.

Again, it's simply personal preferences of where you spend your Dollars and where Springfield Armory wants to send your money, but not mine.

What's the made in the midwest brand you refer to?

Are you seriously still on that? I already said that the fact that it has a single action trigger makes it look bad to the LE admins who pick the weapons. Not to mention the fact that they can get a "safer" Glock for less, especially if they trade in their equipment.

i know a couple dealers who wont even stock them anymore due to difficulties getting parts if your XD takes a crap on you.
not saying its a common thing, but definitely something that has kept me from ever buying one.

Lee D, i am confused by the dealers not stocking SA products.

SA's customer service is outstanding. very few xdtalk.com participants rant about CS. 99 % rave about it.

i bought my xd 40 initially because there was an offer to get 3 extra mags and extra double mag holder if i purchased before end 2010. (now my love for my weapon has grown with time and shooting. the safety features of an xd as an SAO trigger setup makes me feel secure enough to IWB carry, chamber loaded and striker cocked, and not have to worry about my precious pcs being blown off by a careless drawing of weapon!). well, i sent the application and all nec. docs to them and called after 3 mos. when i didn't receive them. the original CS rep sent me to a supervisor and she apologized if it was their fault for losing it, irregardless of a post office problem or not. told me to get duplicate receipt from dealer (i had sent original w/out making a copy) and fax to them. when i faxed to them, the shipment arrived 3 days later. many threads at xdtalk.com referring to CS showed that 99 pct of owners had nothing but kudos for SA CS.

having found out that weapon was shooting high, i found a thread relating the fact the plain old xd had a 'pumpkin on a post' sight picture. well, i wanted POA/POI, so i asked the CS rep about what could be done. i can't remember if she said she'd send one or to send gun back, that was 2 years ago, a long time for an old dog like me to bring up that conversation in my memory. and am too lazy to call and make a request for service. now i just bought the Lee Loadmaster, and all the stuff to go along with (every bullet i shoot is coming out of my dwindling IRA), so i'm not worrying about my aim right now, as i know of the stock sight picture (apparently the XDM models have a POA/POI sight picture).

so i don't understand why dealers wouldn't stock em. perhaps you should have them call SA CS and discuss the kind of service provided and resolve any issues that may remain in those dealers' opinion.

there was a thread somewhere here several days ago (what's the worst semi auto you've ever shot?", and i can only scroll thru 10 pages x 50 posts a day, but after 1000 posts, some revealing and curious guns pop up. the WORST is Kimber Arms, but many also claim Ruger, and S&W poor CS as the reason. SA didn't come up as bad guy because of CS. SA warranties their weapons for a lifetime. though apparently only original purchaser, many xdtalkers have said they'll repair secondarily owned XD's. and it makes sense. who would ever want bad PR??? and at Kimber's prices, i'd a thunk they'd spit shine the guns they had to repair, and would smile as they are answering their calls. cuz that smile comes through on the phone

check out that thread on worst guns, it's a real eye opener. i have many many pages to scroll yet, but wow, i can't believe what i'm hearing re: CS. anyway, IMOO.

by the way, how do you guys incorporate someone's quote in your post? at xdtalk.com, there is a Quote and a Multi quote button that can be pressed and it's automatic. i'm still new to this site, so help is appreciated. you're a good bunch out here, just like my xdtalkers

Well my computer isn't American made, but I'll use it to voice my opinion anyways, I've earned that right many times over. I'd gladly spend $390 on an XD and then buy $500 worth of American made ammo to feed it. The xd9-sc is one of the most accurate and reliable sub compacts I have ever shot. I've seen XDs in holsters around Oklahoma City, and Streicher's police supply winter catalog has the XDM 3.5 available for sale to police officers, so someone in the law enforcement community is obviously using the XD. Congrats on the new pistol OP, maybe someday you can get a Nazi Era Walther P38, or an evil communist Makorov, both are really fun to shoot.
