Springfield XDs

Well I stopped and picked up an XDs Monday night. They only had one left which was the display one, but it was in perfect shape so it wasn't a big deal. Cost $550 which was a lot less than at another store I was looking at so I was pretty happy. I put about 60 rounds through it yesterday and today. Didn't have any problems except for one round that didn't get the primer hit for some reason. For a small gun it isn't bad to shoot except for hotter loads which you sure can feel. Think ill be sticking with lighter loads. I can get my whole hand on the grip without any problems, and it is nice and grippy without being too rough. It fits my hand pretty good, I might try the smaller back strap that it came with and see how it feels anyways. The sights work good and this is the first gun I've shot with a fiber optic sight and I really like it. Isn't as accurate as my 1911, but I think that's more me than the gun. I The trigger is fairly heavy, but nothing I can't live with and get used to. I sure don't think it's a bad thing as this is a ccw gun I don't mind a little heavier trigger.

I haven't been able to decide what holster to get for it so I've been using the factory one for now. While it makes the gun hard to conceal, it's comfortable and holds it secure. It should work until I find a good iwb then ill still probably use it if I decide to open carry. When I was carrying my 1911 before this I didn't have any problems concealing it or carrying it after i got a good belt and holster, but the XDs is much better. I can't hardly feel its there so It'll be alot more comfortable and be easier to hide when I don't have to wear a jacket all the time. Overall I'm very pleased with it and I can see why they are so popular. Easy to conceal and still easy to shoot while still packing a punch.
Any one have a good holster to recommend?

Just got mine last week and heading to the range tomorrow. Taking PMC 45A and planning to get 200 rounds out. Will report back on my thoughts.

For all you XDs owners out there, you need to try Talon Grips wraparound grip. I have one in the rubber texture (don't want to cut through my pockets with the granulate texture) and it made a big difference in how I was able to hang on to my XDs. It's $15, ships free and even comes with an alcohol pad so you don't gotta pick one of those up.
Get 'em here.

My XDs is up to 450 rounds now, without any failures to fire or feed. It has failed to lock the slide back a few times but that can likely be attributed to the fool behind the gun.

Why yes, yes I do. The below picture is of my carry rig. It was made by Hidden Hybrid Holsters. It is a great product and is holding up very well. I forget the gun is IWB to be honest. I paid $65 after shipping.

Notes: There are belt loop cut so you could use it OWB also. Price is great. The mag release is covered in this rig. If you are thinking about adding a laser, I believe Cross Breed holsters has a better option. Cant and carry depth can be changed by lowering or raising the clips. I found mine to need no adjustment though. I am extremelly satisfied with the gun, and the holster. It is essentially my perfect carry gun set up.

That holster looks really nice and I was going to order one to try out but there's no way a 6 to 8 week lead time works for me.
I put another 50 rounds through it today with no problems but most of my shots were around a foot low. Looks like I'm jerking the trigger a little too much so Ill be doing a lot of dry fire practice for a while. Overall still love the gun though just need a little more practice with it

I want an XDs, but I have a 4.5" XDm in.45ACP. The pistol is simply outstanding. I've been very happy with the purchase, which is to say I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Springfield line of XD pistols. Top quality firearms and a pleasure to shoot.

+1. I normally try to buy USA made but I'm not going to turn down a gun that's exactly what I'm looking for because of where its from.

Is the new XDS 9mm a striker fired pistol?
Yes it is Just like all the other XD pistols

I've since fired a few more rounds through it without any problems. Today I really made concentrated on how I was pulling the trigger and I was actually hitting what I was aiming at. Granted it was only at 10 yards but still an improvement over last time. Guess I'm just used to a nice 1911 trigger

I bought a XD 40 Tactical when they were first being sold. I loved it, but traded for the XD45 tactical when they were first available. This fall, I traded the tactical 45 for the XDm 45 Competition and then bought the XDs...these are all excellent guns that do their job over and over. Reliable, dependable, accurate,...what more could you want for the price???!!!

I Just installed the green fiber optic in the front sight, as it glowed much brighter before I installed it. When I got it in however it was very dim and the green didn't end up having much color. Looked very light and almost clear. So I went back to the red even though it doesn't glow really bright at least it has some color to it you can pick up. A lot of people seem to like green but I guess it isn't for everyone. As for the gun I only put a few more rounds through it still with no problems. Really like it. Also picked up a holster and have to say it carries great. Very thin and with a thin holster I don't hardly know it's there.

I've had mine now for about 6 months and around 500 rounds thru it. Today I decided to change out the red fiber optic to the supplied green that came with the gun. What a PITA !! The green fiber was to thick and I had to drill out the holes to make it fit. A 5 minute job turned into a hour! I snapped 3 drill bits in the process. All's well now and the green fiber is a lot easier to pick up compared to the red.

Just got my XDs in .45acp. back from the "upgrade"
Took it to the range today and put 50 hollow points and 100 ball ammo thru it with out one problem. Loved it!

Got mine back last week and I'm very satisfied with the "upgrade." Trigger was a little stiff at first, but lightened up and smoothed out from dry firing with a snap cap and 170 live rounds.

I love my XDs .45! IMO it is the perfect CCW for me. I just got it back a week ago after having the recall performed on it. I pocket carry it in a Desantis Nemesis holster, and in the colder months, carry it IWB in a Galco holster.

I have shot about 350 rounds through mine so far, and it had been reliable and accurate. I am heading to the range next Tuesday to fire 200 rounds of fmj and 40 rounds of Barnes TacXPD 185gr +P jhp(my carry round) through it to make sure it is still reliable post recall.

I added a set of Ameriglo night sights to my XDs. The front is a green dot, the rear is a yellow dot operator sight. I liked this configuration so much that I just ordered two sets of green/yellow Meprolights for my XD-9 and XDm .45.

Here are a couple of pics of my XDs .45 with the new Ameriglo night sights.
