Short ? followed by the story.

Ever hear a gray squirrel bark like a dog?

There are squirrels that have dug a hole in the eave of my roof. The other day I heard rustling and decided to take him out. Dug out my pellet rifle and some hollow point pellets and set up to pop the critter as they came out so they wouldn't go back in and rot. BLEH. I would throw a ball or something on the roof and let it bounce and a few minutes later a fuzz tail would stick his head out and then go back in. Figured he saw me and then decided to go back in.

I hid behind a bush so that I could see him but he couldn't see me. The bugger came out I squeezed the trigger.... hitting the board and not him. He proceded to chirp a " er er er er-er-er" sound. Then the "Pe-urrrr" sound. I said to myself I've heard that all before. The squirrel then BARKED. The bark sounded like high pitched version of a hound dogs "bruff".

I have heard fuzzy rats makes all sorts of noises. I wished I had a camera that would pick up the sound. The last pellet i think bounced off his head and the last i saw he was running for canada. I put a piece of mesh to work like a one way gate and haven't heard any fuzzys.

I've had them do it to me, their little bark then you usually hear a crack and can see their tiny little head explode from the round that just took them out. They get skinned, cut up and either fried or put in a mulligan. Gray squirrels are good fried and the fox are better used in a mulligan. MMMMmmmmmm good. I sighted in both 22's this weekend getting ready.

This was close to 15 yards away so the bark must have been like a chihuahua's.

Edit:

Went out to unload groceries there were two squirrels chasing each other and they were chirping at each other. The bark i heard the other day is either my keen hunter instincts (LMAO) amplifying or just a weird fuzz tail.
