What is the general feeling about their company's ARs? I heard them mentioned today, but I have not heard much about them or their reputation. Are they a reputable company? How would you rate their products and customer service?

If you are in San Diego, you have to have an AR there are few other options - and you better get one PDQ! Time is burning!

I have not dealt with their service, but their products are excellent.

Stag is working out to be pretty darn popular, and it doesn't sound like it's just because of good pricing. You can get a stripped lower for < $100, and a fully built M4gery for < $700.

Popular over at arfcom. Supposedly, they make the lowers for Colt.

I was wondering the same thing, Anyone out there with one thats been used and knows its querks, if any?

From research that I have done on the internet lately Stag Arms is excellent. There was just a write up I read about their rifles in American Rifleman magazine. The Stag Arms left handed AR was shooting just around 1 MOA.

Stag Arms is pretty new, but it is a subsidiary of Continental Machine Tool Company Inc..

CMT is a sub-contractor for Colt Manufacturing Company LLC, Rock River Arms and others.

You're basically getting Colt quality for a great price without their name. Although there may be different QC standards on what is sold to the public at different companies.

I'm sold.

And that means DAYS not WEEKS most likely. Order 10 lowers if you can afford it. Won't be long until this little loophole is plugged!

I'd like to know where. I was pricing one of the left-handed M4geries, the 4L IIRC, and it was going to be over 1k with the ambi-mag catch.

Stag Arms has established quite a good reputation in the time they have been available. The name is new, the company isn't, and the company behind them is extremely well established and already had a good reputation. Here's the rifle I built on a Stag Arms receiver.

Eagle Firearms ( http://www.eaglefirearms.net )

Stag M4 lower = $215
M4 flatop upper = $440

That's $655 for a (right handed) M4-alike. Their left hand upper is $70 more, putting your total @ $725. Not below $700, but I never said lefty when I first quoted that figure. I didn't find their price on an ambi mag release, but I have to believe it will come in pretty far below $270. :)

Only bummer right now is that if their web site is current they're (Eagle) out of both lowers, and left handed uppers. No surprise I suppose. As I said - they seem to be gaining in popularity.

The ambi catch is $75 there, so I'd guess a street of something less than that. Keeps the lefty carbine below $800 at least.

Stag guns are very nice. The receivers are dirt cheap and as good as abything out there. All my builds will be with Stag's from here on out.

One thing I remembered from the last time I was looking at one of these, if you buy the complete rifle from Stag then it has a lifetime warranty. Not so if you get the parts and assemble it yourself.

Pretty much the way it is with all the manufacturers. Most everyone buys a complete rifle the first time and that's a good idea. After you tear a few apart and get a feel for how simple the AR is, you worry less about warranties and just look for good parts.

Stag will be your best availible where you are. The window is closing better hurry. So the window is open and you wouldn't buy if the quality is not the best or something. If you live in California this is your shot for now. The Stag is plenty good. I got a couple. BTW my FFL had a handful of options from RRA to Superior. Prices 89 to 200 bucks. Building a lower is childs play tools, info and parts are at Brownells and all over the net. Go for it.
Buy and buy plenty now. :)

I'm building up a Stag right now. High quality at a reasonable price. You will pay more for the complete rifle because of the excise tax and such. They subcontract for RRA and Colt I believe so it's not like you're sacrificing.
