Anyway, I kind of dislike all this public cell phone use, myself. Just my brain's way of saying "They must all be controlled, must conform to my way..." I guess.
 
Hmmm...beings as I'm a 5'2" woman, I'd be sorely tempted to draw on the BG and yell out in my command voice for him to freeze or Gaston Glock and I will remove his testicles without benefit of anaesthesia.

However, as has been pointed out, I'd be depending upon a jury believing there was a disparity of force between the two men great enough to warrant me using deadly force to stop it.

Perhaps I'd just use my command voice, and egg/taunt/shame the surrounding men into coming to the other guy's defense.

But actually, if I just yelled at the guy to stop, and did it loud and long enough and threatened to call the cops, the BG might just turn on me, and I've DEFINITELY got a disparity of force there (I'm middle-aged, and of normal weight), so I'd draw on him and shoot if he came after me (a prudent move, given his very violent actions towards the other guy.)

My preventive action for this is to not live up north, where men don't jump in and help each other out, apparently. And that is a sad commentary.
 
With all the melee happening, it seems like a good opportunity to jump up to the counter and get your order in while everyone else is preoccupied :evil:

Yes, of course there was. Anyone looking at the tape would agree.
Anyone would be justified in drawing and/or shooting the BF. That doesnt mean it would be justified in every situation, but in this one is for sure is.
People who would follow the 11th Commandment (Dont Get Involved) will have some 'splaining to do in the next life.
 
I agree with the sentiments expressed about how shameless our society has become concerning not getting involved. However I believe that in these politically correct, litigation happy times, where prosecutors seem to regard their jobs as stepping stones to bigger and better things, it appears the consequences of getting involved in a case like this can cause years of misery for somebody who is simply trying to help out another human being.

I hope he's suing the guy who assaulted him and not the pizza parlor.

Though I doubt fatboy has 25K to his name. And I wonder if 25K will cover his medical bills. Broken eyesocket? Chipped teeth? Lucky he's not blind and can still walk.......
 
Fatboy had a warrant out, and he's headed to jail for felony aggravated assault. It think it's safe to assume he's judgment-proof (has less than about $60,000 in assets.) What I'd like to see is fatboy working the debt of cell phone guy's medical bills off in prison! *crack* MAKE those license plates! *crack* DO that laundry! *crack* BREAK those rocks! :p
 
Yeah, its all about being a good samaritin behind your keyboard. Till you're there, you dont know how you will react to such a violent, sudden, viscous attack. If you've never been witness to or the recipient of such an assault, you may freeze. If you dont know cell boy, or if he is not part of your family, and you intervene with deadly force, you are really sucking around for a court date. Even if the law in your state permits interceding on a third party's behalf, and even if you believe this guy was in jeopardy of being killed (and he was), and you dust fatboy with your sporty forty, you can expect to appear before da judge. You had no dog in this fight (again, assuming you are no relation to cell boy), yet you chose to become involved. Even if you are found not guilty of murder/manslaughter, how much did it cost you and your family for the lawyer that saved yer behind? And when the family of the rehab'd ex con sues you civilly for the wrongful death of the family's bread winner, how much is that gonna cost, even if you win? And what if you lose? How much then? From all that time off work to appear in court and meet with your lawyer, and bank folks to mortgage you house to pay your lawyer, do you still have a job?
And lets just say you draw down on bigboy, and he turns on you and since you've seen what he can do, you shoot, and he dont stop like he should according to the movies? And now, you are wishing for a glass of water to wash down that customized pistola that Kong is now force feeding you. Now your wife and kids will do without 'cause you wanted to be a cop.
Or, a shot goes errant, and now the mom coming in the door with the baby in her arms catches that round? or the baby? oooh, is that a criminal AND civil suit I feel coming on?

If cell boy wasnt living in a world where 'it cant happen to me', he would be packing and would bail his own ass out of this. I choose to go armed, so can he. I'm not losing everything for a dude who chose to go naked.
Those of us who have chosen to go as armed CITIZENS, have not taken an oath to use arms to protect the general public. Read your state statutes. Your right to carry a deadly weapon is to protect you and yours. The third party stuff gets real dicey when the lawyers get involved. So no, I will not hang my head in shame if I chose to vacate the premisis, go home and hug my wife, help my 8 year old with her homework and my 3 year old color his pictures, rather than a) be dead from an ass whippin' I could have avoided, b) down at the station house trying to explain why I was shooting a guy for beating someone I dont know.
That all being said, a little Fox oc and rubbin' tha boot might be just what largeboy needs. And you guys are right, killin is what he really needs. But till he attacks me, I cant do it.
 
Great Post, Slydelokt!!! What most (untrained) persons do not realize is that the single greatest threat that you face on the street is NOT the guy who attacks you. Your greatest source of danger IS THE PROSECUTOR that is going to eat you alive.
All of you heros had better buy an industrial sized tube of KY jelly - it will make the next ten years or so of your life a bit more comfortable.
Jurys are made up of people that have been spoon fed this bovine excrement about " not taking the law into your own hands ". Most likely, they will be the sheep that ya'll are speaking of - and they will do to you EXACTLY what the "sheepdog" (prosecutor) tells them to do - TO YOU!!!
Unless you or a family member will most certainly die unless you act, then keep it in your holster. Anything else will leave you totally FUBAR for life.

Sheesh. The central issue is that if you draw, you better be willing to shoot. And firing your weapon in a confined space, to protect a man from being punched, while within arm's length of 6 innocent people, is hands-down the stupidest thing I've heard all day....and that includes the babble that came out of my 2 year old.

I would like to think that I would have attempted to help the guy. I admit that the size of the ex-con would have been difficult to deal with.

I do not have a carry license, but if I did and attempted to stop the guy and he continue the beating or came after me I don't see any other recourse than the bring my weapon to bear on him and demand that he stop immediately. If he didn't stop then he would receive a bullet in the appropriate place. After one shot I would expect that he would not be going down and would most likely come after me - in which case he would get as many bullets as I could put into him as quickly as possible.

After everything is said and done I would probably be brought up on charges. But what are we to do, stand by idle while a 395 pound criminal beats the hell out of someone and maims him for life or worse kills him!!

I would not stand by and watch this. There were enough witnesses around to vouch for something needing to be done.

ENOUGH OF THE INNOCENTS BEING TAKING ADVANTAGE OF AND BEING SLAIN - IT IS TIME TO FIGHT BACK!!! :fire:

Ever since I first read this post and saw that video, I've been terribly disgusted with the apathy of the bystanders. :mad:

I literally get a little sick when I think about all those guys just standing around while doofus gets beat down. I know I would've done something, I just wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't. At the least I would've shouted at the thug to back off and arm the pepper the spray in my pocket.

I thought maybe by posting something, I can stop thinking about this. Disgusting.

So every loud-mouth biatch and her overgrown goon boyfriend should just muscle in on whatever they want by curses and threats? Nah, I dont think so. He didnt deserve it. The big guy deserved to get drilled. That goes for toilet-mouth as well.

I have, and while I think cell-phone-guy is a doofus, he didn't deserve the physical violence he got. Nobody does. His words were just words, passive-aggressive and obnoxious, yes, but worthy of being potentially beaten to death? Absolutely not. Just my opinion. If I see somebody getting sucker punched like that, I would have to intervene in some way. I just would. I've jumped into the middle of 6 on 6 bar brawls to separate combatants without having to think about it, and I would have done the same or similar here.

I thought the unedited video might make it a bit easier for you to stomach watching those people do nothing. You as someone who couldn't stand by and watch this happen, are the exception. There are many who would do nothing, several who say they would have done something, and very few that would actually do something. This is clearly documented in the video. If you are as you say, you should be commended for it.

I, on the other hand, have a hard time having any sympathy at all for this guy that starts a fight, does nothing to deescalate the situation or defend himself, takes a beating (yes it's excessive), and then badmouths people for not saving him. The guy's a donkey. I have no time for donkeys and I don't risk my family and myself for them.
