I found a CZ 452 Ultra Lux Super Exclusive at a local auction yesterday. I'm now deciding if I want to leave it as is or install a scope. I went completely thru it last night cleaning the bolt and barrel. The trigger pulled at 11.5 oz. but passed the rubber hammer test. Not sure if it was ever shot, but if it was, it wasn't too many times. The bolt is still real tight and the clip has no feed marks at all. This one may have been purchased and set in a good home or shop environment. Zero signs of rust or abuse, no marks in the beach wood or the steel barrel / action. I had to remove a little bit of forearm wood to make it a good free floating barrel and then resealed it. Very happy with the purchase. The barrel is 28.5"'s. Just fits in my gun cabinet.

Congrats on the find. I managed to find a CZ 452 Lux some years ago at a local gunshop for a great asking price that I couldn't refuse.

The one thing that I've hated about CZ's is scope mounting. The 452 stock cheek piece is fairly low so when you mount a scope you'll be sporting a chin weld just to get your head aligned properly. That's with a Simmons 1-5x20 with as low rings as possible which still allow the bolt to move without hitting the eye piece. I ended up putting one of those "acid tactical" cheek pieces and I added a few layers of foam between the stock and cheek piece to help with a higher cheek weld. Here's a picture of it on my CZ 527 which has the same issue.

You are correct, the SE Ultra Lux is better then the American and the FS but still shy is being good. With a 40 to 50mm lens U have to mount quite high. I shot target only with the three I own and seem to make things work on the bench by adding a towel while shooting to the cheek area. My Ruger American Preditor 6.5 Creedmore is the same way. I added a cheek rest on it and my Remington V3 12 gage auto.

installed a Weaver 5x20x50 on the DIP rail, with burris rings

Don't mean to be crass, but that's like saying you built a truck because you put a topper, light bar and aftermarket bumper on it. That's accessorizing. "Building" is even a stretch when guys talk about assembling from parts. It sorta qualifies if we're talking threading, chambering and setting headspace with barrel blanks, bedding stocks, etc. When I say "built", though, I mean I machined all or nearly all of the parts from raw stock.

This is one of my builds:

Purchased parts were barrel liner, grip and magazine.

On this one, just the barrel liners and hammer springs:

Barrel liner and magazine only:

I've assembled many guns from parts, and I've accessorized many more, but if they bear the name of another manufacturer, I wouldn't even allude to having built them. I didn't "build" any of the AR's I assembled from kits or parts, including 80% receivers or receivers I milled from solid billets. I didn't "build" the demilled Suomi KP/31 I welded & re-machined the receiver for. And I didn't "build" any of the other commercial firearms I have modified, whether minimally or extensively.
