Starting my 223 reloading experience

I've had good luck with Hornady One Shot.

I spray the inside of a ziplock with it for about 1/2 sec on each side, dump brass is, shake it around like a shake and bake, open it and give it another spray, shake again, and immediately start with the decap/resize die.

Smooth as butter.

I use the homemade lube lanolin oil and Heet, but before that I used one shot. Never had an issue with either, but the homemade is crazy good. You only need a small amount, or you'll make a mess of everything.

I tried lots of things before I settles on the following procedure. I dip the mouth end of the case in white motor mica, and dip the case mouth over a brush in order to lube the inside of the neck.
I then use just a dab of Imperial sizing wax on the case body. One swipe with your finger is good enough for 4-5 cases.
Makes resizing/depriving almost effortless. I the tumble the cases in corn cob to remove the lube before continuing with case preparation.

The lee paste works just fine. Never had a problem.

Mainly I use the RCBS with a pad. I'll roll 7-10 (depending what round and how many will fit on the pad).

After about the 3rd one there is plenty of the gooey RCBS lube in the die and I switch to using one dry case and one lubed case. Works perfect. Also, about every 4th or so wet lubed case ill scoop a bit if lube into the inside of the neck.

I've resized, loaded, and fired tens of thousands of bottleneck rifle cartridges without ever bothering to lubricate the INSIDE of the case neck.

Notwithstanding this "omission," I get consistent base-to-shoulder measurements, and measured with a micrometer-type RCBS Precision Mic case gage.

Some people use "motor mica" to lube inside the case necks. Talcum powder (make sure it is real talc and not cornstarch) will do the same thing. I usually don't lube the case mouths, OTOH I haven't been reloading .223 very long and haven't got everything down yet.

Kiwi Mink Oil boot dressing makes a great substitute for Imperial sizing wax. A can of it, or a can of Imperial, will last you for years.
