• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

I’m not sure if this belongs in this section or not but it’s a good read.

Thank you for the thread

Interesting.............

I'm assuming most of that cargo is ammunition....?

Totals to less than $0.83 per pound.....

Put in perspective, that doesn't seem like much to me...... 🤷‍♂️ .......pretty easy to pass on without losing customers......

So in other words, rather than corporate speak, they are gonna raise prices. Not to get political but Trump told Walmart not to raise prices, true they are bigger than Target Sports it's all just a mess.

62146/3420=18.171 per unit
Someone has to pay it and it’s not the Tariffed country it’s the importer and consumer.

If an extra nickel a shot is going to break you, find a cheaper hobby. The public library still lets people read books for free.
Both valid. Nickel or dime isn't going to break me, I'll just pay the going rate and press on. Same as in Gasoline and other necessities.
Dinner out for me and wife runs $35 t0 $45. Ammo at .40 a round is 100 rounds, a reasonable trip to the range for me. Skip a night out and throw some burgers or ribs on the grill.

Sprots. Why does this pass spellcheck?

It's always a win for the anti-gun crowd when the price of anything gun related increases. There are many here who can afford the increase and not need to do without elsewhere. Some are not, and that's where it is going to hurt. Single parent, fixed income, living in less than friendly neighborhood might have to choose between security and putting enough food on the table, medicine, shoes... will the billionaire boys in charge, help with that, or even care?

How the cost of the tariff is shared between supplier and buyers (and intermediaries ) depends on the elasticities (responsiveness to price changes) of supply and demand. In most cases, the burden of the tax is shared, harming both sides of the market, though to varying degrees. This burden is NOT determined by who physically collects and submits the tax, but by the way the market adjusts to the tax.
The article does a good job of pointing to the global character of the supply chain. So far as I know, there are zero operating lead smelters in the US today. While the goal of the tariffs might be to bring back manufacturing to America, that process takes many years. Who wants to live next to our new lead smelter??? Not all manufacturing is desirable.
