I’d never owned a Hi Power until I recently ran into a good deal and acquired a forged frame MK111 in great condition. I’d like to buy a couple of Mr. Camp's guides from his widow, and know she was selling his books through the old website, but the site was last updated in 2018.

Anybody know if Sandy's still running the site and if the order info is active? I'd much rather deal with her than PayPal. TIA

There should be a postal address within the site to send orders and payments to. I did so a few years ago and she promptly sent out my order. I sent a check with my order.
Hope she’s still ok.

Understood but I'm not sure if any of that info is still correct or if she's still in business. The site's been inactive for 4 years now. I guess I'll send an email and see what happens.

Thanks.

Although Stephen was a great guy with lots of passion and knowledge for the Hi-Power, he was not really into the technical side of things - you won't find information in his book that is not readily available elsewhere. If you can find his book at a reasonable price, then go for it, but don't make it a dedicated hunt - not worth it.

His illustrated full disassembly guide is quite helpful to strip a BHP to the frame.

Come on now - Hi-Power is not really a complicated design, you can figure it out by yourselves. You can easily find a PDF version of Browning's Hi-Power Field Service Manual - although lacking good illustrations, it has step by step written instructions for detailed disassembly and parts inspection. A hint for an easier mainspring change - clamp the mainspring guide in a vice and then use the wire cutter section of some cheap small pliers to press down the new spring. After compressing enough to clear the threads sufficiently, simply squeeze the pliers, so the wire cutter can grab onto the guide. There is also a simple tool in the Field manual that you can easily make from a suitable nail, that allows for much easier hammer installation on reassembly.

I’m sure it has adequate detail and instructions. The pictures in Camp’s guide are very helpful. He also shows the tool made from a nail for hammer installation. It’s good info and was an easy source for me at the time.

Websites just don't stay up. There's hosting to be paid for and the domain registry has to be renewed every couple of years, so I would take that as a good chance that it's still current. You might want to fire an email off to the PayPal address listed on the site and ask if she still has any copies available.

I purchased it a couple years ago and communicated with Mrs. Camp directly. Super nice lady and I was happy to honor her husbands legacy and purchase his manual/guidebook. I just sent the money via. Paypal.
