According to GeekWithA.45, Stephen Herod (Airboss) has gone to his reward. In my dealings with the man I found him to be a gentleman of uncommon character. I’ll miss his contributions here and elsewhere. I pray G_d’s peace upon his family.

You are kidding - right?! I cannot believe this and am more than sad. Oh my - this is not good at all. :(

Are there any more morcels of info - I really would like to get the full heads up here. .. it is sad beyond description, to lose one of our number.

Please elaborate - someone!

In meantime - RIP Sir - I found your presence a joy and delight - and am thus far barely taking in the loss.

David - thx, I am glad you brought this to our attention. I do tho hope we may have more detailed info eventually.

Oh my - I guess it's my age but - this hits home - and as always seems the case - unexpected and - shall I say, shattering news. I finish this day saddened.

reposted from Kim Du Toit's site:

Steve died Friday of a heart attack. His friends will be relieved to know that his neighbor, “Bobby†(a medic) was at the house when the heart attack occurred and administered CPR until the ambulance arrived. Everything that could have been done was done.

Steve had spent the day doing Steve things--nothing unusual for him: helping a neighbor cut down a tree, moving the lawn with his tractor, etc.

Steve will be cremated with services held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 3:
Riley’s Funeral Home
95 US Highway 190 West
Woodville, TX 75979
(409) 283-8131

Elaine has asked, in lieu of flowers, that you make a contribution to your favorite charity.

I happened by this in my surfing, and thought I would repost it here for those who knew him. I never had the pleasure. RIP.

From The S&W Forum

I'm not a newbie here I mostly lurk and hardly ever post.......but I have bad news reguarding one of the regulars here.....the guy that turned me on to this place.

My friend "Airboss" quickly left this world this afternoon. Steve is my neighbor.....I was over at his place helping him cut a tree down this afternoon. We felled the tree and I was cutting it up and he was on the tractor pulling a portion of the trunk away, his wife yelled at me that something was wrong with him....he was slumped over on the tractor and unconscious. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful and now he is gone from us.

Airboss was a 'Nam vet, purple heart, ex Army Security Agency. He would have given any of his friends the shirt off his back. He taught me legions about guns (I was a real novice before I met him). He loved his Smith wheelguns and his Colt semi-autos. I only knew Steve 3 years but I shed a tear as I type this and the reality of this sinks in. The gun world has a hole in it as he was FIERCLY pro gun and knowlegeable about our Constitution and preached it.

He had no children but left a wonderful wife Elaine......please remember her in your prayers. God bless you Steve!

Bob

Thx guys for the other info - I suspected this was what happened.

I am one year older - clinging on to life!! I guess tho it's better to go quick. Tomorrow does not carry any guarantees - worth remembering folks.

Rest easy Stephen.
