Anyone. Can i use m40 mags in my m9? I had hears that you can from a dude at a gun show. So I thought I would ask everyone here for some help, i trust the good folks that use this site more than someone at a gun show.

In a word...Yes..

Are they reliable? Not sure yet...Havent gotten mine to function 100% reliably...But I have only fiddled with it a bit...

The mag needs to be crimped at the top to hold 9mm rather than 40...9mm shells will jump out of the top of the 40 cal mag. Just make sure you crimp the lips exactly...Make sure the top shell rides the same height as it would in the 9mm mag.

Im going to the range on friday...and taking my pliers and M9 with me...Ill give you a report, see if I cant get it reliable.

Just make sure that when you crimp the feed lips that the mags will still function with 40S&W ammo in your M40s. Otherwise, you are "manufacturing" new mags.

I think it will take 13...and 13+1 for a total of 14 is pretty respectable.

But Like I said, I will give a report on friday night.

I believe 12 is all it will fit. I had an M40 mag for my M9 and I put 9mm rounds in it. I only got 12 and they seemed to just about pop out of the top. I didn't feel like modifying the mag for 2 extra rounds was worth it. So I traded the mag away.
