Stock fit.

Will a stock from a Winchester 70 XTR fit a newer 70. ?

It won't bolt up, but with some minor modification yes. I've put older rifles in new stocks by purchasing new bottom metal, or buying/making an adapter. The newer rifles have the trigger guard and floorplate in one piece, older guns had 2 separate pieces and the cut out in the bottom of the stock is slightly different. If you can locate some older 2 piece bottom metal I think it would bolt up, not positive. Otherwise some wood will have to be removed for it to fit.
