On a whim today I bought a Stoeger Cougar .45acp. I know it was
originally a Beretta design similar to the current PX4. Does anybody
have any experience with the 8045? What can you tell me about it?

Boy are you in for a treat! Clean it , lube it , shoot it. Very soft recoil, very accurate & super reliable. IMHO it's one of the best values available.

Got a Cougar in 9mm. Not my favorite handgun (I'm a spoiled 1911 brat), but it's extremely reliable and accurate. They're one of the best kept secrets in the handgun world, essentially it's an all metal Beretta for less money than most new tupperware guns, including the PX4.

Excellent gun! Mine has been 100% reliable through 1000 rounds, soft shooting, accurate. You made a good choice.

Thank you all.

P. S. It came with 4 magazines. Sure beats the generosity of Sig with
their 1 magazine!

Academy Sports? Picked an 8040 last week but hav'nt shot it yet. Came with four mags, weighs a ton. If it shoots well I'm going to get some custom grips for it. I almost got the 45 since the 40 only holds three more rds. I was told the Cougar was designed around the .40. Enjoy your new pistol!

Yeah, Sig is a little stingy with their mags... My P238 came with one mag, and at the time factory replacements were $40+, for what is essentially a Colt Mustang mag with SIG on the side!

Bought a Colt mag as my backup, less than $20.

8040

I have had my Stoeger Couger for a little over a year now, absolutely love the gun .Comfortable in the hand, very accurate with factory or reloads and I do believe that it ran me $329.00 before tax, whats not to like about it?Seriousley thinking about the 8045 as my next gun.

Cougar!

I have a 9 mm. This gun is AWESOME. Good luck and shoot it like crazy because they are built like tanks.
