Any ideas for storing or carrying uppers in a case? I thought buying some shotgun scabbards, but I don’t like the open end as it will not retain the bolt carrier group and I’m skeptical it would fit with optics mounted. A standard hard case seems too pricey considering it would only probably hold one or two uppers.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

I was trying to think what my soft rifle cases cost but I can’t remember ever buying one. All were given to me over the years when others have asked “you want this?”.

Back in the old days, they were not the big rectangular cases that are common these days but much smaller, often so small rifles with optics wouldn't fit in them. So after a scope was mounted, they were free to the first taker.

They fit uppers just fine.

Great but now you have a bunch of bags to haul around, right?

That’s where another trash day find comes in handy. An old golf club bag hard case, to put all the soft cases inside, good handles, wheels.

Stealth approach.
Older stringed instrument soft cases.
Don't use older Fenders or Gibsons as they will draw interest from everyone!
Oooh, I like this idea. My uppers to store are short for PCC’s and checking Amazon, flute and clarinet cases are the perfect size. Thanks!

Serious question, but why not keep the upper on the lower? Multiple uppers for one lower? Some law about transport? Just curious, as I've never thought about keeping an upper separately. Thanks.

Yes. I have multiple uppers for one lower.
