Testing the Rem 700 Stainless LFSS .223 Rem - After new blued steel firing pin assembly. Cocks more easily, no firing pin drag, improved lock time and much easier bolt lift...normal. This rifle was purchased as a used rifle at LL Bean in Freeport, ME. It cocked hard and firing pin hits were not up to snuff, so when Remington advertised a 25% off sale on parts, I bought the new firing pin assembly and it works like a 700 should!

Accuracy, as evidenced by the attached target is better than it had been, but it didn't shoot all that badly before, considering the drag problem. I had other rifles to shoot, so limited shooting with this one. Primers didn't show minor cratering that it used to exhibit. Took 2 clicks right after shooting the first 3 shots. Perfect shooting conditions - overcast with almost no wind.

This is the rifle that the Remington Repair Center declared, had excessive headspace. That was proven to be B.S., as I took that rifle and a brand new one to a great gunsmith and they both had identical headspace!

The new recoil pad should be coming in a few days. Meanwhile, it wears a slip-on Accelerator.
