“If we succeed, the Country is ours. It is immense in extent and fertile in its soil and will amply reward all our toil. If we fail, death in the cause of liberty and humanity is not cause for shuddering. Our rifles are by our side, and choice guns they are, we know what awaits us, and we are prepared to meet it.”

Okay, those guys had their rifles and intent to use them. But other than that, isn't this more Armed Polite Society material?

Looks as if we have hit a nerve.

The same could be said in regards to the Native Americans; the Spanish, French, British also had settlements/interests in what is now the US and Mexico. During the settlement of South and North America many lands changed ownership/flags.

Spain also took what is now Mexico from the Aztecs and the Aztecs took it from...and so on and so on.

    Get over it.
