Stuck Fake Supressor

The only thing penetrating oil has ever done is catch on fire when you need to take something apart for real. It's ok for lubricating threads for assembly but so is motor oil.
Glad you got it taken care of. Skip penetrants forever, they're useless for everything.

Haha. I have been visiting this site for reloading data the past few months then this thread popped up again last night when I used a search engine for info on " removing my thread on faux suppressor" that came installed on my new side charging 223 pistol upper a few days ago. The one on mine is the 3 inch or so version that doesnt add bbl length but i almost sure it said "reverse threads 1x28" on the item description when i purchased it. If the original poster rifle's muzzle attachment is similar to mine then it may of been hard to remove due to trying to "unscrew" due to not being on exactly center mass of the attachment. Our handguards look almost identical with the lower 2 screw pattern. This thread has saved me some considerable less hassle now.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info and like i previously said i have been checking info here for a while. Its nice to finally made an acct.

Is there any chance it has reverse threads?
The video showed "lefty loosey".

She sure made the OP look like a "girly man", but to be fair to him, the video wasn't of his unit. The demo video may have been made immediately after original assembly, and not after the aluminum and steel had mated.

I bought a FX-9 with 8" barrel. Took off the shroud and with the upper in an AR15 vise block used a pipe type adjustable wrench - later watched the video and saw their washer is what caused the problem -

You obviously are not a mechanic, and have not used kroil on a rusty bolt.

I am a certified master mechanic by trade, 19 years experience working in the crusty rust nightmare of chicagoland . not many people know more about disassembling rotted junk than me. Some kroil may work if you have a month to soak and tap on it or something but in the real world that's impossible and not guaranteed to do anything and usually doesn't do anything . YMMV but I don't waste my time.

My mileage does vary, and if your working around plastic air lines, breaking out the torch isn’t always an option. If Kroil don’t work, that’s usually my next choice, but sometimes makes more work just making it safe. I don’t waste my time with other penetrating oils after using Kroil.

I keep a can of kroil on all my benches and recently started also keeping a spray bottle of atf/acetone. About 10yrs ago I came across some strap wrenches that were about 2" wide and about 2'+ handles and I just bought them for the heck of it and I can't really remember ever using them, but I could see them being helpful for you problem

I’m not far from you Obturation, over in crusty SW MI! And in my 37 years of wrenching, only 7 of them were flat rate, where I learned 2 things. 1 time is money, 2 imports used far superior bolts being corrosion resistant! These days, I’m lucky, get to work on rust free Oshkosh airport equipment. I paid my dues with rusty city dump/plow trucks!! Lol

I've seen oil filters on cars, including the first one I bought, that were insanely tight and had to be cut/chiseled off. I've had a couple of other items that refused to come apart and was totally humiliated when I tried and tried to get a broken chair base apart to replace the gas cylinder that had blown out and shot black fluid all over my rug. I took it to work and asked the maintenance guy if he could try to get it out. I had tried everything I could think of without success and I gave it to him and he walked to the back of the building and about one minute later, he walks back to my desk and plops the empty base down, and says, "Nothing to it!". Cue three years later, and repeat. I think it took him less time on the second one. I thought that one was going to be a little harder as a friend and I both had a go at it without it budging. My hands were killing me.
