You can't make this stuff up. She's basically saying that college campuses are exempt from the Constitution. I guess I shouldn't be surprised (sigh)...

Force her to convert to Christianity. I bet she starts wanting the Constitution to apply really quickly to campus.

Miss Neville, are you saying that if my son is murdered on campus I can sue the University for wrongful death? You did say it's their responsibility, didn't you?

New ruling by the Supreme Court?

Last time I looked police have no responsibility to protect and I doubt that the school has any. If the school has, VT is in a world of hurt.

Actually, it seems this is correct. I was reading through a Brady Campaign report: No Gun Left Behind: The Gun Lobby's Campaign to Push Guns Into Colleges and Schools (found here: http://www.bradycampaign.org/xshare/pdf/reports/no-gun-left-behind.pdf )
and it turns out they've done a good bit of research for us. Page 12 (20th page in the PDF), has a nice list of State court decisions supporting the above quote - that the college is liable for violence on its campus.

Incidentally, Appendix B (Page 27 (35)) gives a listing of shootings that have occurred in these "gun free zones", further proof that the zones don't work.
