This is no big deal, but I did get a kick out of it.

A couple of days ago the phone rang at 7:10 am, waking me. It was my business line, which only rings upstairs.

I picked it up, and a young woman asks, "Is this the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association?"

I said that it was.

"Well, I just wanted to let you know that you people are total a******s."

I thanked her for her comment, and hung up.

Then I hit *69. Amazingly, she didn't block her number. So I called the phone company to file a complaint. The customer service rep said they would either call her or send a warning letter.

And then I went to anywho.com and did a reverse search, and found her name and address.

I find all of the above encouraging. Not only are our opponents lacking in original thought, but many of them are dumber than dirt.

Not to mention...

...somewhat immoral and childish (think about it, if he published her number on a site where thousands of people visit, even if just 1% of folks here called her and harrassed her... )

:banghead:

I agree. Let's retaliate...with extreme prejudice! Post her address if not her number.

Yeah, it's not like you're compromising an unlisted number or something. Her number is public knowledge, we just don't know
what it is.

Monkeyleg

Call them back and ask try and get them to discuss why they feel the way the do about them, be totaly non threatening. Probably will freak them out that they know you have their number. :D BTW what good does it do to file a complaint with the phone company?

be civil- do unto others etc- call her back and invite her to go shooting, nicely. and refer her to "the human guinea pig" on slate magazine online-That lady did the unthinkable- ACTUALLY LEARNED TO SHOOT A GUN!! (and liked it!)

What you do is go enter her name/address/phone number in every gun related catalog request you can find online, NRA, SFA, all of it.

Geez, I wish I had thought of that. What a great idea. And go one further and donate $5 in her name to a few pro-gun outfits. She'll need a wheelbarrow to get back from the mailbox.

Or even better...Let's take up a collection and sign her up for the NRA, along with a little contribution to NRA/ILA. Heh heh.

Monkeyleg:

You don't have too do anything more ...

If the phone company contacts her relative to the call she made to you, she'll know that you know ...

Who she is !!!

And that in itself will worry her to death ...  :D

him publishing her number on gun forums, or signing her up for gun catalogs, or other childish BS is just the sort of thing that hurts our cause, not helps it. I agree with the poster who said, "offer to take her shooting, allow her to form an informed opinion," ... playing pranks on her will just reinforce her negative feelings toward us... Her mind is probabably already made up, but why give her ammunition?

Lemme see if I got this right. Its ok for the lady to harass Monkeyleg, but its not ok for Monkeyleg to harass her. Makes sense to me

Not ok either way.... although I always say, "Two wrongs don't make a right, but they sure do make me feel a lot better."

BUT, this THR, The High Road; which I've learned to take quite frequently.

are we all ten years old here?

if someone breaks into your house, do you go break into their house?
did y'all miss this line here-
So I called the phone company to file a complaint. The customer service rep said they would either call her or send a warning letter.

take the high road PLEASE.

HA- just send her the endless catalogs. that's comedy, annoying, and not illegal, just good marketing, like spam.... how else would you research your customers but by who calls you?

Old Fuff, my thoughts exactly.

Let's face it: many of the really extreme anti's think that all of us are just itching to pull the trigger if given any excuse.

What person with at least two brain cells and that mindset would call someone he/she thinks is a killer, and leave a trail?

Imagine being 70 miles away from wherever Sammy "The Bull" Gravano lives, and making a harassing call to him, and leaving a full trail as to how to find you. Not smart.

thorn726: "are we all ten years old here?"

Well, I don't think we are, but there are many anti's who are at best ten years old in terms of emotional/intellectual growth.

Last session, when I was sending out email alerts about the override votes, an anti who had signed up for the email alerts decided it would be cute to submit my email address to as many porn sites as possible.

What would be truly fascinating would be to establish friendly contact with this young woman, and then follow her evolution in politcal/social beliefs over the next decade or two.

Not advisable, though.

So, for those who will show up for the committee hearings and floor votes, keep in mind that one of those twelve or so pink-shirted MMM'ers we'll be facing had to stoop to making adolescent prank calls.

We outnumber them in terms of supporters by a margin of 30:1 or more, and we have logic, facts, and the history of human behavior on our side. They have irrational arguements based upon unsubstantiated and, now it would seem, adolescent fears.

A person could probably make a good living by charging to look under the beds of such folks every night to make sure that there's no bogeyman hiding there.
