Otherwise I might not have seen this article about Ruger's LCP.

The smallest gun Sturm Ruger & Co. manufactures is responsible for the biggest product launch the company has ever seen.

Company officials thought they would sell 30,000 of the guns this year.

....six days after they unveiled it at a popular gun show in February, orders surpassed 90,000 units.

Employees at the Prescott manufacturing building are cranking out 500 guns a day, and they increased daily production by another 50 guns on Monday.

....they hired 49 additional employees to help meet the demand as they anticipate production up to 100,000 this year.

A new LCP comes off the assembly line every 52 seconds,

.... about 32,000 pistols were shipped as of last week and 68,000 are on back order.

I looked at the videos and it looks like a fine gun, except no slide holder open on an empty mag. Just from the price and looks it looks to me like it can't be beat. Just my $.02.

Any owners here that can comment?

At that rate they should catch up in the next year. Assuming 550 a day times a conservative estimate of 220 working days in a year (holidays, vacations and plant shutdowns for maintenance) they could make 121,000 a year. I suspect once the first 90K-120K go out to the people who absolutely had to have them right now, things will slow down a bit.

Then we should see prices come down to more reasonable levels. You might also see the competition between Keltec and Ruger cause even better deals. I wouldn't be surprised to see LCP's going for $250 dollars by this time next year and Keltecs to be $50 less.
