I've been thinking about getting a new suppressor. What I am looking to suppress is my Armalite AR30 in .338 Lapua but I also own an AR in .50 Beowulf and would like to suppress it too. Should I just get a suppressor for the Lapua or should I get one .50 bmg rated and use it on both rifles? Does anyone know what the differences in DB loss would be using the .50 suppressor on .338 compared to the designated .338 suppressor?

The problem you'll encounter buying a .50 BMG suppressor is that they're typically HUGE and HEAVY. Fine if you're sticking it on the end of a .50 BMG rifle since you have no choice, but on the end of a .338 LM? I have an AAC TiTAN-QD for my AI AWM in .338 LM and it's tiny compared to AAC's Cyclops which is for .50 BMG. The Cyclops is 4X the weight and 1.5X the length!! The length isn't as big an issue as the weight though. If you can find a .50 BMG can that weighs a couple of pounds it might make sense for you.

TiTAN-QD
Weight: 20 oz
Length: 10"
Diameter: 1.85"

Cyclops
Weight: 79 oz
Length: 15.75"
Diameter: 2.50"

I guess it would be better to get designated Suppressors. For the price and weight it would only be about $500 more over the cost of the AAC Cyclops to get a .338 suppressor and another for my .50 Beowulf.
