Surface Prep for Synthetic Stock

Hi guys, I am about to do a rifle in camo with dura-coat. I wanted to know if anyone had any hints on what one should do to prepare a synthetic stock for this finish. I read the instructions, and saw no meaningful info for synthetic stocks. I know I have to make sure it is free from dirt and grease and dirt, but do I have to sand it to rough up the surface? I would think that the stuff should bong really well to plastic.
