SW 386 Mountain Light Advice

    I'm interested in the opinion of people who have shot this gun. Is the recoil bad enough to make this gun unpleasant to shoot with .38? This would be my first handgun and primarily for backpacking where weight is at a premium.

    I love mine.

    .38spl and +P are no problem at all. I can handle about 1 box of full power .357mag before that's no fun anymore.

    I have the 2.5" 386PD. I love it. 38+Ps are no problem at all. .357 Magnum ammo is mostly too hot for pleasure or good shot to shot recovery time for personal defense (PD) purpose. The forthcoming Speer 135 grain SB (short barrel) .357 Magnum ammo should be just about perfect for PD. Dennis
